HEAVY GORE WARNING

~^~*~^~

Silence.

Soft, sweet silence.

It should have been a good thing, right? No. The silence told Gumi that she was just playing a game. Then again, maybe the silence was good. The green-haired girl didn't hear the soft bubbling, which was a good thing. She wasn't near here.

Gumi sighs internally, not daring to make any sound as she looks around the dark atmosphere. Her life was not on the line, yet it was. These creatures didn't kill, only created. They created more of them out of the innocent people of the world.

Then there were the special people, the people like Gumi. They had different abilities, all elemental. Fire, ice, air, celestial... all kinds of different things. But they were only to destroy to creatures called Azures. They had been fairly effective so far, but there was still the rotting feeling that this was all a futile effort. Human population was lessening quickly, and Azure population was on a steady incline

Gumi's mind drifted to all of the people that had been lost. ONE was first to go, then Galaco, and Yukari. They all just... disappeared. But Luka... the thought of what happened to her brought tears to Gumi's eyes. She had watched the pink-haired girl go through physical torture as her body was contorted in ways that the human body shouldn't even be capable of. It was horrifying, and Gumi felt utterly helpless as Luka cried out for help, black closing in on her eyes like a curtain covering a stage. She couldn't do a thing to help her.

Drops of blood scattered across Gumi's hand as she bit into it to silence her crying at the memories. All of her friends were gone now, and she only blamed herself. Even the strongest out of all of them, IA, had been turned. Gumi was being stalked by her - no, the monster that had taken her body - now. If she made even a sound, she was as good as dead.

But it wasn't quiet enough. A deep, garbled laughter from behind Gumi made her jump and grip her golden spear tighter. In the last hour, she had only heard that broken laugh once, but she knew it meant danger. IA was near.

A surge of pale yellow light from somewhere in the sky lights up the area for a split second, but it was long enough for Gumi to turn around and see IA not even five feet away from her. Her black-and-blue eyes were pinpoints, and a crazed grin was spread across her face. Blood was splattered across her cheek and forehead, dripping from her mouth, and her hands were covered with the thick, red substance. But that sheer amount was nothing compared to the blood nearly pouring from the gaping hole in the monster's chest. A golden dial hung from the hole, being held only by a few tendons, and was dripping blood itself. However, that wasn't the worst part. IA was like Medusa now, except her hair did not consist of snakes. The black, horned snakes were emerging from another gaping hole in her lower back. There were three of them, and their glowing red eyes all seemed to be staring into Gumi's soul. The biggest snake, however, was the most disturbing. Incomprehensible whispers were being emitted from the snake's agape mouth, and the gold-and-blue symbol on it's forehead pulsated with the whispers. Perhaps the most disturbing thing about all of this was that IA still looked mostly like herself, despite the eyes and razor-sharp teeth making up her sinister smile. But she was far from herself. Her fingers were elongated into metallic-like claws, and her skin was bubbling, similar to the rapid boiling of water. It had the same sound, too, except... more disturbing. It was the only sound she made, besides laughter, and the barely audible whispers of the large snake.
