°* Nikki's POV *°

'I'm boredddddddddd!!!' I thought to myself. Every night I wake up super duper early, and usually Max does too. But recently, he hasn't been in his cot in the mornings.. It's only 2:00 AM, jeez! I don't know where he went but all I know is that I'm bored. Usually I manage to go back to sleep if Max is still asleep - or in this case, missing - but today i couldn't. I tried to look for bugs but I only found one worm. It gave me entertainment for a little bit.. But then I got hungry.

I shuffled to the wall of the tent and fiddled with a patch of grass that laid beside me, underneath Max's cot, A.K.A my nest.. 'Maybe I should wake up Neil?' I pondered. After debating for roughly 5 seconds with myself, I rolled out from underneath the bed, as if I'm the military!

Neil lay in his cot, sleeping. But that was about to change! I sat down cross-legged and pricked up my head just enough to see him and waited for him to turn around.

°*Neil's POV*°

I was dreaming a harmonious dream of mixing hydrogen peroxide with dishwasher soap and adding a solution of yeast and warm water into a large, metal tray. The mixture foamed up and out of the glass container it was once in, spilling foam onto the tray below. I smiled at my simple experiment of Elephant Toothpaste. I wished I never awoke from this dreamy fantasy.

"WAKE UPPP!!!!!!!!" I heard someone yell right next to my face.

"Ah!" I squealed, surprised. Suddenly, the voice turned into a mocking laughter as a figure fell backwards and clutched their stomach.

"Nikki!" I yelled, p'd off. I sat up, now fully awake and pretty irritated.

"What do you want?" I spoke, oppressively. She sat down on the end of Max's cot and stopped her profound mockery.

"As usual, Max isn't in his cot! And I'm bored." Nikki whined, slumping back and crossing her arms with a look of langour.

"Woah, woah, woah! What do you mean 'As usual'?" I questioned, intrigued and a little disquieted from the sudden, unneeded wake-up call.

"As usual.. Well, I'm bad at explaining things.. But it basically means something that is commonly experienced, encountered and/or observed." Nikki unheedingly stated, placing two fingers in her chin, as if in deep thought. I blinked, flummoxed and vexed.

"Wh.. No- Ugh, I mean , what do you mean he isn't in his cot?" I catechized, aiming for an answer to my inquiry."I mean he isn't in his cot. Let me try to explain... A cot is known in North America to be a camp b-"

"NO, NIKKI! I-" I placed my hands together, putting the tips on my forehead and took a breath in and out. "Why is Max not in his cot?" I sighed, emphasising the word 'why'. Nikki shrugged and vocalised 'I don't know', tilting her head to the left and sitting up.

"He usually is awake by the time I am so he keeps me un-bored but lately, he hasn't been in the tent at all!" She pouted.

"How strange," I paused and hesitantly continued tapping my lips,

"Have you looked for him around the camp?"

"Nope." She replied, playfully popping the 'p'.

I sighed.

"Well let's go look for him and if we can't find him, then we will tell David.

Nikki nodded at me, looking as if she wasn't bored anymore, apprehending an adventure. I threw off the covers and put on my shoes. Nikki, like usual, was already wearing her's, as she goes to sleep in them, just in case of an adventure.

Nikki and I got up and I reached to open the tent flap, only to realise it was already semi-open. I guessed that it was probably Max, as he usually leaves it open upon exit and entry, and stepped outside. Nikki breathed loudly in through her nose, closing her eyes before opening them and loudly breathing out again, 'breathing in the fresh outdoor air', even though it's the same air we breathe daily. I rolled my eyes playfully and I closed the flap behind us.

A/N: Sorry this was a short chapter, I'll make the next one longer, I promise. I hope you enjoyed and I hope you have a nice day!
