Unfriendly Encounter

Later that day, Kate and Scarlet were looking over what to sing in the competition since they had the most experience in music. Luna and Laufey were there as well.Scarlet hummed, "this is a bit tough. Maybe something that showcases all of our voices... So that way even if the others are harmonizing in the background they'll still have a turn to show their voices." Luna chuckled, "Remember now it's for fun. No need to be competitive dear." Laufey nodded, "She's right Scarlet."Then Kate's ears picked up something. "Hey, do you hear someone singing?"The girls nodded. Scarlet stretched out, "Let's check it out." she said as they followed the voice. They found themselves at the Courtyard where a familiar boy was singing into the well."Hey, isn't that Epel? Jack told us about him before." Scarlet said.Luna nodded, smiling, "I and Laufey share classes with him. He's charming, albeit a bit timid." Laufey nodded, "He doesn't seem too interested in Minerva so I want to kill him less so than the other Pomefiore students.""Looks like he's singing into the well." Kate said as they watched. Only for Epel's voice to crack, making them wince. "Yikes. He probably never trained it enough." Scarlet made a face.Luna looked concerned," Or.... He's training it too much... It does sound strained doesn't it?" Laufey nodded, "His throat does sound a bit rough....""Epel hello!" Luna called happily, going up to him."Ah! Oh, hello Luna-san. I hope I didn't bother you." Epel said in mild fear. "Of course not dear. You sounded quite lovely... Though how long have you been practicing? Your throat sounds a bit rough." Luna asked, concerned. "A bit is an understatement... You sound like your gonna lose your Darlin." Scarlet said as a bit of her southern twang came through in her voice.Epel began blushing a bit as he saw tall rough, but beautiful Scarlet. "To, be honest I have to practice for the VDC, but......I wish I didn't." Epel said sadly. When Kate was going to ask why a voice came up. "Well, you stopped practicing to talk with some pigeons, Epel?" The girls turned to see Vil not too far from them. "I'm beginning to like this guy less and less." Laufey said under her breath. "I can guess why Epel doesn't want to be in the competition, Luna." Kate whispered to her senior comrade.Luna nodded to Kate before turning to the upperclassmen, "Good day Vil senpai. We just happened to notice Epel while we were walking. Though we couldn't help but notice his throat sounding a bit rough." "How long has he been practicing? And who are you calling pigeons?!" Scarlet snapped. Laufey put a hand on Scarlet's shoulder, "Calm down Scarlet...""Apologies, but I don't recognize some of you. Banner-san of Ramshackle I do know through Savanaclaw. Are the rest of you transfers?" Vil asked. "As for Epel, he should have been practicing over the holiday, only to have slacked off. A lot is at stake for Pomefiore in this competition. Therefore I can not tolerate slacking off." Vil finished.Luna nodded smiling, "Indeed we are. We came over during the holiday. There is one more but she's currently with the leech twins. I'm Luna, that's Scarlet, and That's Laufey. Laufey is Minerva's older cousin by a year." she stated gesturing to each of them. Laufey just glared at him.   "Regardless he sounds like he's gonna lose his voice at this rate. Slackin off or not he should be practicing smarter not harder." Scarlet growled. Luna looked over at Epel and held his chin gently, "Open please. I'd like to check your throat.""Eh?" Epel said. "She wants to check something wrong. Let her do her job." Scarlet said in her Southern voice. Epel compiled as Luna checked his throat. Luna tsked slightly, "Oh dear... Just as I feared, your throat is all red and inflamed. Poor thing." she gestured over to Vil to come here as she showed him, "See Vil Senpai? Your pushing him to a point to where he could lose his voice for a whole week. Maybe even more if it gets worse. I recommend letting his voice rest a few days at least. I know this may be important to you but his health is more important. At minimum he should have today and tomorrow off to rest his throat. Maybe try not to push him so hard? Same thing with the dancing aspect. If his muscles are pushed too far he won't be able to perform well. Yes practicing is important but enough rest is also important." she stated. "In plain terms, ease the hell up and let him rest if you want him to perform well." Scarlet said bluntly.Vil scowled at being told off like that, but if word got out about this, it could damage his reputation, not to mention ruin his chances at the VDC.Laufey glared at him, "Luna is trying to help you. Idiot. So quit your scowling. Minerva hates heartless jerks like you...." Luna smiled at Epel gently, "Would you like to visit our dorm today and tomorrow Epel? I'll make you some nice warm mint tea with honey to soothe your throat and a bowl of nice warm soup." she said sweetly.Vil would have intervened if it weren't for Scarlet and her glare. If looks could kill he would be dead. Sighing, Vil took his leave, letting Epel off the hook. For now. Epel breathed out a sigh of relief. "Thanks. I think I'll come by after class. Though I have a feeling Vil will have Rook accompany me..." He said.Luna smiled sweetly, "Have no fear. Your safe at our dorm and this Rook is welcome to visit as well." Laufey nodded, "I've seen that rook guy. He looks at Scarlet a lot amongst other things... Another admirer of hers possibly." Scarlet scowled, "Like I want guys obsessing over me....why do they even like me?" Luna smiled, "Your the rarest fruit that's harder to get to." Scarlet sighed slumping her shoulders, "Damn it."

Epel could only watch as Scarlet frowned, oddly finding it attractive, before shaking his head. "Sorry, but I got to get to my next class. Thank you again." He waved goodbye.Luna smile waving as they went back to classes.Then Scarlet gained an idea. "I think I know what to sing." "Huh? Scar, you're in serious mode. Plus why the change in attitude about the competition?" Kate asked.Luna smiled nodding, "That's lovely. What is it?" Laufey nodded, "I'm curious as well....""How does Dynamite by Bts sound?" Scarlet smiled.Laufey smiled, "I like it." Luna nodded, "Good choice. Alex really loves that song too.""Let's head to class, we'll inform the others we'll have company." Kate grinned.
