For Beau, love had never come easy so when Vanya came into his life it was hard to understand why he cared so much for her, why such a little girl had made it into his heart so quickly. But he eventually accepted this revelation that he loved her because he knew others wouldn't and he knew she was special to him. Vanya was his little sister, his star, his best friend and she was being targeted by a man who had manipulated her in every way possible.
And there he was. Just as meek, just as unsure. He was intimidated the moment Beau stepped into the room and Beau revelled in it. He could finally put his cruelty to the test, he had someone who really deserved to feel his wrath and Vanya's as well.
"Beau," Vanya breathed, her eyes full of unshed tears and her fists balled at her sides. She had been pushed to her limit and things would be let loose any moment.
"I'm here, star," Beau assured softly, "So... " His piercing gaze found Jenkins, the house and the things inside beginning to shake and rattle with the force of his power, "Why don't we give this man a lesson?"
Vanya followed his lead, staring Jenkins down with Beau now at her side.
"Your father was right." Jenkins mumbled in faux confidence, "Not strong enough." His tone grew shaky at the sight of Beau's glowing hands and red eyes, "He knew it. And now I know it. You're weak!"
"Stop it," Vanya warned quietly.
"You're pathetic."
"Please don't."
A hand was raised and Jenkins went flying back into the wall harshly, enough to knock the wind out of him but not to hurt him. Vanya deserved that more. She deserved to make him suffer but she didn't deserve to take the abuse he was giving her in order to unlock her powers. Vanya was more than fury and resentment, she was strong.
Beau stepped in front of Vanya, "Vanya, you listen to me, he doesn't know a thing about you, alright? All he's saying is utter bullshit and you know that." He didn't snap, he wasn't allowed to, "What did I tell you?"
"But it's true." Vanya whimpered, tears running down her face.
"What did I tell you?!"
"That I'm strong, beautiful and loved."
"That's right and you trust me, don't you?"
Vanya's eyebrows furrowed as if the question was absurd to hear, "Of course I do."
"Then trust that what he's saying is all lies and what I say is true. He doesn't love you but I do." Beau stepped away as Vanya's gaze found Jenkins once again, her eyes focused and determined to unleash everything she had been holding back, everything that was forced down inside her. Raw power was flowing and Beau could feel all of it.
"No, not to me, Vanya." Jenkins whispered, "Please!"
"He deserves it, Vanya."
Vanya took hold of the man with her mind and snapped. Knives flew at him, the ground shook below them and the windows shattered at the mere sound of her voice. Everything pulsed in waves, in and out, left to right, up and down. It flowed and it exploded into a million vibrations through the room.
Beau couldn't help the sadistic grin forming on his face.
Was he a horrible person for the pleasure he felt in the face of the man's pain? He would have to figure that out later because as soon as the last breath left Jenkins' body, Vanya fell to the ground with exhaustion.
But the two had to go their separate ways after all and Beau was left thinking over the recent events of the night. He worried for Vanya and what she could have possibly wanted to do alone and why it was so important. Should he have been more stubborn in staying with her? Well, it was obviously too late as Beau eyed Rosie sitting outside on the steps of the Hargreeves home, seemingly expectant for his arrival.
