It was a sad morning, tiny little raindrops were falling from Glasgow's gray and monotonous sky.
A young brunette girl was walking frantically through her room, catching everything she could inside her gray and sad room and tossing them inside a brown worn out trunk with the initials A.G. written in it with a beautiful gray letter, when she heard a knock on the door.
"Come in, Blondie!" Just then a tall and blonde boy opened the door, closing it after him and jumping on the bed "My hoodies you prick!" shouted the girl.
"Hm, you and your bloody hoodies, you should stop buying them Addie" said the boy grabbing some of them and starting to fold them "You are obsessed with this man, i swear, this is starting to get freaky" said looking at the black hoodie in his hands, it had the face of David Bowien in the back and the words "Space Oddity" written on the front, surrounded by planets and stars. By the look of the room you could say why the blonde boy was saying so, the room was full of posters of the man, the trunk had all the vinyls she could buy and in the undone bed was the gigantic collection of hoodies the brunette had, one of which she was wearing at the moment. She had her hair up in a bun, with her wand on it, and she was wearing a pair of flowy black sweatpants and a gray jacket with the singular Bowie lighting on it.
"Would you shut up? And be careful with that one, it is one of my favorites." She said while continuing to make her trunk for the new school year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizarding, because yes, Adhara Gray was a witch. She, though, didn't know so till she received the visit of Minerva McGonagall herself at the orphanage she has been living for her whole life, Sufferwell, the day of her 11th birthday. She still remembers how, at first was rude and missbehaved just to put Mrs. Leighton, the headmistress of the school, on her nerves, and how she thought it was all a joke, until she saw the big and beautiful castle for the first time. It was nothing like Sufferwell, a sad and horrendous place wrapped in a beautiful Victorian style facade.
"Do you have to go Adhara?" asked the blonde boy once he had finished folding all the hoodies, and laying on the bed looking at the constellations the girl had put on the ceiling of her room.
"Yes Elliot, you know I would take you if I could, but professor McGonagall left it very clear last year" she said while walking towards the chair and desk by the window and leaving a pair of jeans, a top and a hoodie there. "Or the year before that" she laughed.
"I mean, it is not as if you haven't tried" laughs Elliot Collins, he was a lot taller than her, and his hair was bright blonde with a pair of brown eyes and a charming smile. He was her best friend, they had clicked immediately when he entered the orphanage a couple of years after her, they had grown up together, they were inseparable, until Hogwarts and magic came into their lives, Elliot was the only person Adhara had ever trusted, and therefore the only one in the entire Suferwell that knew her secret apart from the headmistress, at first she was scared he would change her for someone else, but as years went by, they had never been without knowing from each other for more than a week. Elliot was the only one who wrote to her, and Mrs. Leighton just accepted because Adhara threatened to curse her.
A knock was heard and the door swung open revealing a tall and strict looking woman. "Miss. Gray and Mr. Collins, the dinner is in five minutes, and as far as I am concerned you should be down when it is served or you won't have any. And Mr. Collins, you know you are not allowed in a girls bedroom, this will have consequences, I assure you of that. Now go down and dress appropriately Miss Gray, this you are wearing is completely out of limit, and in this institution we do not let sluts walk around, so cover up, noone wants to see your cleavage or your but as it is. And get that horrendous stick off of your hair, I don't want anyone knowing I am letting a monster like you stay here." and with that the old woman left both teens fuming.
"I really truly hate her," said the brunette.
"One more night and you are out of here, for at least three months." Said the blonde boy handing her one of the no zipper hoodies "And by the way, you are no monster."
"Thanks El" she said, grabbing the hoodie "You know, if it didn't get you in trouble I would go with my boobs out, just to fuel her".
"I don't mind you getting me in trouble if i get to see your tits tho" said the blonde boy.
"That is what Morrison would say, you pervert" and with that both teens walked down the stairs to have the last dinner together for a long time.
Dinner passed fast, and before she knew it, morning had arrived and Adhara was putting her uniform, all crumbled, inside her black shoulder bag. It had a lot of pins from different rock bands she liked, as well as a lot of patches with songs and other artists. She dressed herself before changing in her baggy jeans and tiny top. She grabbed her jacket and her wand and went downstairs to have the last meal of the year in that hellhole. On her way down she was met with a not so pleasant scene, a group of guys were in a circle and a little girl's screams could be heard from behind the big bodies.
"Hey Morrison, why don't you fight someone your age?" said the brunette girl standing directly behind the group. Just as she said that all of the guys turned around and the one standing directly before her took a step forward.
"Well, well, what do we have here? The little whore of the orphanage" said the big guy. Andrew Morrison was a very tall and strong person, he was a head and a half taller than Adhara and probably had double her strength. He had dark brown hair and blue eyes. That though, did not scare the girl.
"And here comes the earthworm that got abandoned, what a shame for both of us" she said, preparing herself to grab her wand if necessary, "So now, stop being a big cry baby and leave your fragile masculinity aside so this poor kid can continue with her life, without you in it, already too many of us have you in ours" the brunette said with confidence while taking a step forward and sticking her chin up, as she made a gesture to the girl in front of her to run away from the situation.
"If she goes, you take her place Grey, and I am sure you are not gonna like what we are about to do" just as he was saying so a light cough was heard from behind and just as they turned their heads, they saw a tall and bald man, with black big glasses and a small smile that showed confidence.
"How about we leave her out of this? I don't think you would like what she will do to you."
"Hey Mr. A! Just in time!" said the brunette girl "Listen to him guys, and leave."
"This old pal saved you this time, but next time you won't have that luck" and just like that Morrison and his gang went away leaving the brunette girl and the bold man.
"Adhara, how come everytime I come get you, I find you in trouble?" Jarvis Abbot was a middle aged man, bald and tall, he usually wear a tired expression from taking care all alone about the "Leaky Cauldron", a bar/hostel which also was the door too one of her favorite places in the entire of England, Diagon Alley, it was magical, and the first bit of magic she had ever seen.
"I have no idea what you are talking about Mr. A" said the girl smiling innocently.
"Oh of course you don't" said the older man while rolling his eyes "Anyhow, go to your room and grab your trunk while I go say that we are leaving to Mrs. Leighton, I left Thomas in charge and I want to return before he burns it down." he walked up the stairs and towards the headmistress office.
"Lord that's a bad idea" Adhara moved down the aisle and up the stairs she had just come down from.
"What is?" Said a familiar voice behind her "I mean, not like anything you do is a good idea, but what is it this time?" Elliot fell into step next to her.
"Ha ha very funny"
"I try" he wore an innocent expression "Now, tell me come on"
"Not my idea this time tho, Mr. A's, he left Tommy in charge of the bar" as they entered her room, she went directly to grab her bag and jacket, while he grabbed her trunk.
"Oh yeah, that is a bad idea". Both friends went down talking and laughing about anything and everything. Once they arrived at the front door, Mr. Abbot and Mrs. Leighton were there, waiting for them.
