I woke up with a throbbing head and very little memories of what happened previous to this moment. I recounted my steps from the last thing I remember, which was walking into the convenience store.

I walked in, got a slushie, checked out, went to my car and then... Nothing. That's when I must have passed out. But why did I pass out and where in the world am I? As I observed my surroundings, I realized that I was on a bed in a dimly lit room. Not in an abandoned shack type of way, but like someone just turned the lights off in a normal room.

I pushed the blanket off of me and sat up. I scanned the room once more to ensure that there was no one or no obvious cameras. Once I had confirmed that the coast was clear, I threw my legs off of the bed, feeling how far down the floor was. The bed was kind of high up so I had to jump a little bit but I paid no mind and went straight for where a light switch might be.

I noticed that surprisingly, I was still wearing all of my clothes and my hand or feet weren't tied together. Whoever kidnapped me really didn't think I would run away. And maybe I wouldn't. But that is for time to tell.

Anyway, I ended up finding the switch and flicking it on. I looked around and the room was darkly colored, even with the lights on. The bed was quite huge, which I had expected and there was a nice nightstand next to it. There wasn't much else interesting, just a desk and some fake plants.

Though it was nice, I had still never been here before and I was taken against my will. I felt around all of my pockets for my phone but I could not find it. I had either forgotten it or my kidnapper had taken it. Both cases were devastating. Obviously whoever was keeping me here was wealthy, but their intentions could not be predicted.

I started rummaging through the drawers of the nightstand, desk, and dresser for any luck. The top drawer of the nightstand was empty except for one yellow sticky note and a button. The note read,

Welcome! We're so sorry for taking you like this but just ring the bell and someone will help you with whatever you need. :)

What in the world? The friendliness of the note made me want to puke. My head feels like it's getting hit all over again, I don't have my phone and this person is apologizing? It's a little bit too late for that. But I rang the bell anyway since I was parched.

Not even 2 minutes after I rang the bell, a short woman entered my room. She was plump and had rosy cheeks. So far, I trusted her to some degree. At least she didn't look like a murderer. I kept my guard up though, since looks are often deceiving.

"How may I assist you ma'am?" She smiled somewhat artificially.

"For starters, you can tell me where the heck I am and why. And then, get me a drink. I'm freaking thirsty."

"Unfortunately, I can't tell you exactly where you are, but you are still in South Korea. The Boss has brought you here because he has a use for you."

Great. I've been trafficked.

"Can you specify what use I have?" I retorted.

"I'm not sure if I am allowed to, I'll have to ask The Boss."

"Okay then, take me to 'The Boss'." I rolled my eyes.

"I think I can do that for you." Her fake smile stayed unwavering.

"Thanks."

"Oh, and you wanted a drink. What would you like?"

"Water, please."

"I'll be right back with that, you just sit tight and make yourself at home."

I nodded, maintaining my rock-hard demeanor. Maybe I was being a little bit rude to the person who hadn't done anything directly bad to me, but she's still an accomplice to the jerk that kidnapped me in the first place.

After she left, I looked around more thoroughly now that I knew this was basically my room. I opened the rest of the nightstand drawers, which were all empty. Then I looked through the dresser drawers. Which were filled with clothes.

I took out a pair of jeans that were my size and totally my style. I took out some shirts, which were also my style and size. As I found more and more items, I slowly began to realize that there was more to this than trafficking. Whoever this Boss was knew who I was and had his eyes on me for a long time.

I stepped away from the dresser until my legs hit the edge of the bed and gave way. I fell onto the plush bed in a daze. A silent fear arose in my body. For a considerable amount of time, I had been spied on. Someone was watching me, reporting back to someone who was taking notes and possibly even reporting back to another person.

I was shaking in utter terror. Everything in me had been tipped slightly and I no longer knew what to believe or who to trust. Has everyone I have ever known been a part of this? And even further, I felt like the secret that my dad had been keeping from me had some way of tying into this whole thing.

I was brought back to reality suddenly when the door opened and the small lady from earlier walked in. I sat up and looked as she approached the nightstand with a tray that had a pitcher of water and a glass on it. She set it down and said,

"Have some of this and then change into some nicer clothes. I see you've already found them so I'll leave you to yourself. Be ready in 10 minutes."

"Thanks."

The cold water soothed my throat and I walked back to the dresser. I picked out a light colored pair of straight-legged jeans and a floral blouse. *See media picture

It had almost been 10 minutes so I drank some more water and waited until the lady came to get me. When she did, there were no words exchanged. She led me through long hallways decorated with paintings and busts. It was beautiful.

At last, she turned and knocked on a large white door. From inside, a voice answered,

"Come in."
