Eddie's PoV -
The years have passed quickly. Dylan is now 2 years old and quite the little trouble maker.
Currently, I'm sitting at the dining room table working on an article. Dylan is laying on the floor next to me scribbling on a coloring page with oversized crayons. The young boy wears jeans and one of my hoodies he insisted on wearing. Vulcan is half formed next to him devouring a cup of apple sauce. Seemingly board with coloring, Dylan decides to chew on the crayon.
Crayon is not food.
Venom takes the chewed crayon from Dylan and hands him an apple sauce. Dylan seems content with the exchange and begins devouring the apple sauce.
Venom cuddles around my back as I work still keeping watch over our spawns.
In the two years since we've had our babies Dylan's heart condition has worsened but Vulcan keeps up with the progressive condition and keeps his host safe. However, we've taught both boys that they are unable to separate. Currently, they are okay with their situation but I worry about their future. They'll eventually wonder what life would be like alone without another voice in your head. Even Venom and I have had many disagreements and separations. Our boys won't be able to do that though. Regardless, I can save my worries for the future. I'm proud of our spawns. Both babies have learned to speak in short sentences. They know their alphabet, colors, and numbers. Both babies eat over twice as much for their age. In fact, the growing kids eat more than my husband which is impressive. The extra food really takes a tole on my budgeting. Now, I'm working for two different companies that pay me for my articles. That means more time in front of my computer but at least I'm home with my spawns and Venom does a good job of watching them.
Venom starts kissing my neck gently and mumbling sweet nothings in my head. I kiss the back of his hand that holds my own. Suddenly, an empty apple sauce container is thrown at my head. "Dada, papa, we're hungry!" Dylan exclaims.
Vulcan lays on Dylan's head and eyes us apologetically for his hosts behaviour. "Fine," I sigh, "but no throwing things at your parents. I taught you better."
I save my work and stand to find something for my babies.
"Pota tots?" Vulcan questions from the top of Dylan's head.
"You want po-ta-to tots?" I ask trying to sound out the word to make it easier for Vulcan to learn.
Vulcan and Dylan rapidly shake their heads. "Yeah!"
I look in the freezer. Crap. We're out. "Looks like we're going to the store."
"Yay!" Dylan smiles widely and claps his hands. Vulcan just merges into Dylan's skin.
Venom soaks into me as well. I hold Dylan's hand as I lead him downstairs and as we walk the busy streets to the nearest store. I lift Dylan into the child's chair of the shopping cart. As we navigate through the store he points at junk food that looks good. I splurged and buy him a few treats. "Dylan, could you tell me what Vulcan wants?"
Dylan nods excitedly and is seemingly listening to his other. "Hot coco and chocolate pudding!"
"Of course, just like your father," I smile at Vulcan's inclination to chocolate.
Once we have our potato tots and other treats we stand in the checkout line. The busy line creeps on. Minutes pass and we're next in line when a horrible noise echos through the store PA system. Dylan starts crying and Venom is screaming in my head. All I can feel is a ear splitting head ache. I hold Dylan and Vulcan glitches in and out of view obviously having trouble staying inside Dylan. The sound become even more high pitched. I blackout and I'm collapsed on the floor with Dylan in my arms. I feel the terrible feeling of emptiness and find that Venom is screaming in pain and seizing on the floor next to me. Suddenly, a flash of dark blue hits my chest and falls to the floor next to Venom. Vulcan! The poor little symbiot is screaming in pain and is falling apart. Dylan's screaming has stopped and is now hyperventilating in my arms. His pulse is dangerously high. I need to get my family out of here. I pull Dylan close to my chest and quickly gather Venom and Vulcan. However, when I pick Vulcan up he breaks into two with a painful scream. "Baby, I'm sorry," I cry.
I find a pickle jar and quickly break the seal and dump out the pickles. I scoop Vulcan up inside of course leaving the lid off. As fast as I can muster I stumble towards the exit with my suffering family in my arms. I make it to the door when a pair of strong arms push me down. A gun is aimed at my head. "Well, well, well, what do we have hear," the evil man makes a grab for Vulcan still crying in the tiny jar. I hold my baby close refusing to give him up. With this action, I accidentally left Venom exposed and the evil man quickly picks my mate up and shoves him into a glass chamber. I recognize that chamber. These men must be from the Life Foundation. "Give my husband back, now!" I growl trying to be as fierce as I can with a debilitating headache and strong grip on my children.
"Foolish man!" that's when I hear the gunshot.
Then pain floods through me. I look down to find that I've been shot in the stomach. I'm bleeding out fast. Vulcan is ripped from my arms, "No!"
I grab for my baby but I'm too weak. I curl around Dylan hoping against hope that they won't take him from me.
