"We have a letter you need to read," Came Leo's voice, solemn and sad for the first time Annabeth could remember. The seven were gathered in front of Annabeth's door-All of them except for two. Jason, who had died 8 months earlier to protect Piper and Apollo, and Percy, who Annabeth had last seen a day ago. A chill went up Annabeth's spine as she wondered why Percy wasn't there. Hazel handed her the card she had been tightly gripping. As Annabeth read it, tears gathered in her gray eyes. She coughed out a sob and Piper was immediately at her side, hugging her tightly.
"I'm sorry," she said, "I'm so sorry."
"No," Annabeth choked out. "he can't be-Percy, he-he survived everything! And now..." She kicked the door frame, leaving a crack in the material.
"So stupid! I... Percy can't have died!"

The funeral was ten days later. The seven's eyes were all red from crying, and Sally's eyes were, too. They lined up to say goodbye, and Annabeth was first.
"Percy, you were always a stupid Seaweed Brain, but you somehow got through it all. You were unbeatable, and... you were my everything. You were the best boyfriend ever," she said through her newly-blossoming tears. She hesitated, then opened the lid of the coffin. She kept her eyes closed, not wanting to remember him in death. She leaned down to kiss him one last time, but warm hands grabbed her cheeks and pulled her down entirely on top of him. Her eyes immediately shot open and she looked into Percy's warm, sea-green eyes. They didn't stare off into space, but looked into hers. He kissed her and held up a ring.
"Annabeth, will you marry me?" he asked with a crooked smile. Annabeth was crying again, but she was also smiling.
"Seaweed Brain! You're so stupid and annoying and... I thought you were dead!" she punched him, then kissed him again. "And of course I'll marry you!"
