To fall is to die, something she had been told before, but nothing could prepare her for the actual sensation of it; the whooshing of the wind and the cries that came from her own mouth. Left was right and down was up. Nothing made sense anymore.
She reached out a hand as she plummeted through the clouds. She had known that this would happen...but they had gotten so close to winning. She had thought that maybe, just maybe, they would succeed.
She had been wrong.
Even the dampness of the clouds could not muffle the chiming of the bells. Someone had won at the game, and the winner was rising to the top of the tower.
But she was
