❝hey, siri!❞ ❝hmm?❞ ❝play you don't know me by summer walker!❞━━━━━━━━━━ "HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ANAÏS!", the small crowd sang cheerfully as the now 3-year old beamed brightly. even at a young age, little anaïs knew that love and family was an important factor in life. especially receiving love from those that she herself loved. but the tiny little being couldn't help but to feel one special person was missing out on that love.
"happy birthday to me!", she shouted along with her mother and family.
"alright mama, what do you wish for?", jasmyne kneeled in front of her daughter with a big smile. she couldn't believe that her baby girl was 3 years old. 3 years of growth, whether it being emotionally and mentally. 3 years of learning. 3 years of being without him. 3 years of having no intimate aspect. 3 years of being the best goddamn mother she could be.
anaïs puffed up her chest and blew out the candles on her cake. after being applauded, her chubby cheeks grew as she smiled. "i want my friend to be here. he's supposed to be here!"
"what friend, ana?", jas questioned her daughter. not to sound like a jackass, but anaïs didn't have much friends. hell, she barely has friends her age. everybody that was genuinely a vital role in her life was here."jaavad!", the girl answered honestly. "i play with him at the park and he's tallll. and, and he was pretty drawings on his arms and hands.", she wiggled her chubby fingers.
none of this made sense to jasmyne. anytime they went to the park, anaïs was either next to her or in her eyesight. "mama, that just sounds like an imaginary friend."
"oh, great. she's seeing things now.", her aunt, zemi, muttered. "babe, that's just an imaginary friend that you named after yourself."
"nah," anaïs shook her head, "jaavad is real and my friend. and he's supposed to be here." the two women looked at each other with slight worry. but nonetheless, the cut the cake in front of an obviously distracted child.
wiggling out her her chair, the light sound of pitter-patter slapped against the ground as she made her way to the door. "jaavad!", she cheesed. "you made it! mama, mama, look!"
"jasmyne," zemi spoke.
anaïs pulled "jaavad" by his fingers towards the two women. "jasmyne!", zemi said more sternly as the other two got closer.
"hol' on, zemi. lemme plate this last piece," she absentmindedly replied. finally turning around to hand her child her slice of cake, the plate had slipped out her hand realizing who was with her child.
"jas, nice to see you."
"zayn..", her voice waivered.
"no, mama. that's jaavad!", anaïs specified.
