Ep. 2 |SOME MYSTERIES ARE BETTER LEFT UNSOLVED|

--------------------------------------------------------

We both agreed not to tell the group, so the next day was a bit awkward. We tried to act normal but couldn't help but talk to each other a bit more than usual. Vi was the first to catch on. On the way down to the Training Area, she pulled me aside.

"What's up with you and Mylo?" She asked, giving me a small grin.

"Nothing, why?" I asked, doing my best to keep a straight face. I've been able to fool an enforcer or 2 into thinking we were poor topsiders instead of lane kids, so I had enough practice to keep that chill face.

"Are you sure? He seems a bit chattier today than normal." Vi paused for a second. "What did yall do after I left?" She asked, hinting at something, giving me the same face that I gave her when she and some boy were out late 'finishing a job'.

"We just went down to the old building."

"And what did yall do for the rest of the night...?" I gave her a look.

"We just talked, worked on hand-to-hand combat, and played some Fool's Chance," I explained. Vi gave me a 'really' face.

"That's it?"

"Yeah, sums it up." Vi sighed. "Sorry if I disappoint."

"You know I can keep a secret if yall don't want the others to know." Vi tried. It was my turn to smile at her.

"I will let you know if anything comes up." I put my arm around her shoulder, and we caught up with the group. Mylo gave me a concerned look, but I lightly shook my head. Once we reached the TA, Vi started up the boxer (a big machine that she practiced fighting with a lot), Clagger leaned on a wall talking with Mylo a bit, and Powder went to fix the shooting targets. She always beat Mylo, which I had it admit was a bit funny. I started trying out a new shuffle. It was a trick shuffle meant to let others think that you were shuffling when in reality you were just doing fancy moves with cards and putting them back in the same spots.

"Remind me why we bother with this dump?" Mylo asked picking up a fake gun and checking to see if it had any ammo.

"Vander said to stay low. Enforcers never come down here, so this is as good a place as any." Vi spoke as she continued to fight the machine.

"What's the matter, Mylo? You worried Powder gonna beat you again?" He teased.

"Hey! If she didn't keep fixing these things, I wouldn't keep missing." I let out a light laugh. But he still misses. Powder popped up a second later with a smirk on her face, startling Mylo. She twisted 2 pipes together and the shooting targets lit up and started moving. Powder gave Mylo a smirk as she jumped over the small wall that separated the targets from us, and Mylo returned a sneer. Mylo turned back to the range and started shooting but missed terribly. I was an ok shot, but I needed time to aim, unlike Powder.

"You guys know I wouldn't take you on a job you couldn't handle, right?" Vi asked, sounding a bit down. I looked over at her.

"Are you kidding?" Mylo asked. "That was the best job we've ever done."

"Yeah, it was definitely our best run yet." I grinned.

"Maybe, just, don't take Powder next time." Mylo casually said looking over at Pow. She narrowed her eyes at the brunette, cocked her gun, and started shooting down targets left and right. She was a real pro with a gun. After hitting about 30 targets and running out of ammo, Pow made a 'ha-ha' look at Mylo and walked over to the Arcade game. Mylo joined me and asked if I wanted to play a game of WAR. It was a simple game that a baby could play but I agreed. It was a game of luck and was fun to pass time with. Mylo somehow always had good luck in it. We played for a minute – Mylo, 48, Me, 25 – when I heard Powder say something I couldn't quite catch.
