Chapter 6: Learning how to be a family

Author's note: This scene is loosely based off this scene from the show Modren Family and Modren Family belongs to ABC!

A few days later Wizard was released from the hospital and they walked to the car as he fell asleep with a calm expression on his face and he looked very calm while wrapped in a blanket.

"Aww he fell asleep~" Espresso whispered softly and he was holding the small cookie in his arms. "Yeah" Madeleine said and he looked worried and concerned about something and Espresso noticed it right away.

"Something wrong Madeleine?" He asked as he rubbed Wizard's back. "It's...nothing" Madeleine whispered as they reached the car and Espresso put the sleeping cookie in his car seat.

"Uh maybe should buckle him in I don't want to hurt him" Madeleine whispered and he looked very uncomfortable with something and it concerned Espresso a lot. "Maddie what's wrong?" He asked and he finished buckling Wizard in.

"I'm scared that I might fuck up as a dad" Madeleine whispered and Espresso smiled softly as he took the bag from Madeleine. "Oh honey you're a great dad so far~" he cooed softly.

"Really? But I screwed up when we just started remember?" Madeleine said with a sigh. "Honey we're bound to screw up sometimes~" Espresso said with a smile and he kissed his husband softly and it made Madeleine smile.

"Yeah I guess you're right~" Madeleine whispered and he kissed him again. "And look, you handled the paperwork too" Espresso commented and it made Madeleine blush a deep red.

"It wasn't that big of a deal~" Madeleine whispered sheepishly. "Yes it was and you're the best daddy in the world" Espresso whispered softly and he kissed him again. "Now who's the best daddy in the world~?" Espresso asked warmly.

"I am~" Madeleine whispered and Espresso smiled and lifted his chin to make him look at him. "Who's the best daddy in the world~?" He said to boost his confidence.

"I am! By Devine I am!" Madeleine suddenly shouted in his boastful voice. This caused Wizard to jump and slowly wake up but Espresso shushed him and he went back to sleep with a yawn and he snuggled deeper in his blanket.

"Shh~ you almost woke Felix~" Espresso whispered softly and Madeleine smiled shyly. "Sorry about that~" he whispered and Espresso giggled and put the bag into the car and shut the door.

Then he went to the passenger side and pull the handle and nothing happened. "What the?" He tugged harder and his face paled "d-did we just lock our baby in the car?!" He shouted as Madeleine's eyes went wide in panic.

"Shit!" He rushed to the driver's side and tugged on the door handle and nothing happened for him too. "Shit! Shit! Shit! I put the keys in the bag!" Madeleine shouted as Espresso stressed out.

"I told you not to put them in the bag!!!" Espresso screamed and suddenly Wizard slowly started to wake up and looked a little scared. "Shit Felix it's ok baby~" Espresso cooed softly trying to calm him down in a shaky voice.

While he did that Madeleine tried to sing to him which stressed Espresso more and Wizard started to cry. "Stop it you're making it worst!" Espresso shouted in a scared and upset tone.

"S-sorry, sorry!" Madeleine said with a scared expression. "What do we do?!" He said as he gripped his head and Wizard's cried more making Espresso try to calm him down again. "Shhh it's ok baby it's ok I'm here~"

He then called 911 as Madeleine lost it and a group of cookies watched the new couple as Espresso talked to a operator. "911 what's your emergency?" Said a female cookie with a calm tone.

"Hi, we just locked our child In the car!" Espresso screamed and he heard something that made him pale. "IM BREAKING THE WINDOW!!!" Madeleine suddenly was running over with a boulder in his hands.

"DON'T YOU DARE!!! YOU'LL GET GLASS ON HIM AND YOU'RE TRAUMATIZING HIM!!!" Espresso screamed and poor Wizard wet himself and his blanket as Espresso teared up feeling stressed out.

"Ma'am please calm your husband down and the doors should be unlock any second now" the operator said "I'm a guy!" Espresso said with a very unhappy tone with that comment. "Really?" She asked and Espresso growled softly.

"Check the doors!" He said to his panicking and Madeleine checked it was still locked. "It's not unlocked!!!" He shouted and he tried a second time and the door popped open.

Suddenly he sighed and quickly went Wizard's side and opened the door as Espresso hung up with the operator and they quickly unbuckled Wizard out from his car seat and hugged the crying cookie close to their beating fast hearts.

"Oh baby we're so sorry for that I promise it won't happen again~" Espresso whispered softly and poor Wizard cried his heart out and cling onto his parents tightly and shook very hard and felt so scared.

Suddenly Madeleine felt his robe and blanket were soaked and he sighed. "Ok kiddo might not like this but you're going to have to wear a diaper~" he whispered softly as Wizard whined.

"Sorry baby we just think it's the best thing for you" Espresso whispered softly and he kissed his head and they saw everyone staring at them and he smiled as he puts Wizard in his car seat and buckled him in and grabbed the keys.

He handed them to Madeleine and they got in and buckled up and drove off. "That was really embarrassing" Madeleine whispered softly and he looked at Wizard who fell back asleep

"Indeed" Espresso whispered back and he sighed as he leaned his head back to relax himself and calm his nerves and heart. "Also very scary since we could have been in serious trouble with this and poor Felix was so terrified.

"Yup but we're still learning how to do this and how to be a family and we'll get it right sooner or later" Madeleine said in a reassuring voice hand he held his husband's hand and smiled.

"True I just hope nothing else happens to us" "Essy it'll be ok we can do this and what can get worst" Madeleine said with a confident smile on his face. This made Espresso look at him like he knew what was going to happen to them.

And he was going to be right when they would get home and Madeleine would regret what he had just said and they would have to learn another lesson into the world of parenthood.
