It's cold. Why is it so cold? It was Summer like...five hours ago. I feel something soft land on my head and look up at the sky. Snow. Well, snowflakes for now, but why was it snowing? I survey the landscape and there's nothing but white everywhere I look. What the heck is happening? I get up from where I'm pathetically lying on the ground. A building appears miraculously out of nowhere as if it had been zapped into existence by an alien species. 'It's a blessing from the Spirits' some delusional idiot, I mean a normal person would say. But I was the only one here.
Smirking to myself, I stumble towards what seems to be the entrance. I reach out to the handle of the door. It's red. The heck? More cautious now that I was actually awake, I grab the knob and open the door. There's a stinging sensation on my hand followed by a loud hissing noise. So the knob was red hot. Huh. With force, I finally push open the door and the world spins.
Now, it's boiling. An unbearably loud noise infiltrates my ears. I lose focus of reality trying to suppress the oncoming headache that was being caused by the sound. Sounds. Cars. This was the sound of car horns honking. I look around trying to figure out where I am, but the only thing I can see is a steep stairway that has light coming down it. It must be the way out. Hands on ears, I wobble my way towards the stair case.
My vision flips and before I can do anything, I land harshly on my back on the ground. Welp, there goes my spinal cord. Wearily, I open my eyes and there are houses. A lot of houses. All are surrounded by green trees. I spot a couple of birds that I've never seen before. Judging from the humid air, I assume that I'm in some sort of tropical area but before I can dwell on it, this time, the scenery in front of my eyes goes blurry, appearing as though I'm submerged underwater.
What the heck?
It stops.
Underneath, the ground is still the same, but it's cold. Again. I see something scuttle across the field behind me and come face to face with what seems to be a huntsman spider. Gross. Looking up, I find that it's still blurry and wavy.
Static.
And it clears.
Unlike the other landscapes, there seem to be two cities at once on either side of my field of vision. On one side, in the distance, there's a large structure made out of metal but I can't make out the exact shape.
On the other side, there are significantly more skyscrapers.
Suddenly, I'm standing on one.
'It's a dream,' I come to the realisation. Frantically, I look around, knowing that I have to wake myself up. The last time I stood on a skyscraper during a dream, it didn't end well and I did not want to have the same experience again, regardless of whether or not it was real.
My legs begin moving on their own and I will my body to come to its senses. To wake up. The edge of the skyscraper is less than a meter away from where I'm standing. I keep moving.
Shit.
I fall.
................................................................................................................................................................
I wake up with a start as my body reflectively thumps on the bed, the wind knocked out of me. My dreams have always been questionable, but this one just took the cake. It was as though I was travelling through portals or something. Not that I would know what travelling through portals is like because, obvious reasons.
Subconsciously, I wonder if my power had something to do with transportation. It would be a pretty decent one and would certainly explain whatever the heck my brain conjured up during my sleep.
