Dressed in a black turtleneck topped with a brown coat, a pair of black jeans and pointed leather shoes―Kim Taehyung looked nothing short of regal as he made his way towards the bar, everyone's gaze following him. His hands were buried deep into the pockets of his coat, his dark wavy hair covering most of his eyes; adding the effect of mystery that he had around him. There was no denying the unbelievable attractiveness of Kim Taehyung and anyone saying otherwise would obviously be lying to themselves. If perfection was humanized, it would be him. Not only was he gorgeous, but he was brilliant too. He was an alumnus at your law school, two years above you and was a very loved and bragged about student by the professors. He graduated top of his class and immediately upon passing the bar examinations (which he also topped), he was offered a job at the most renowned law firm in the country and Asia―Park & Jung―but he turned it down and instead worked for the Public Attorney's Office as a defense lawyer for indigent parties which caused quite a stir in the legal world because it was an unspoken rule that if Park & Jung offered you a position at their law firm; you take it, no questions asked. Every lawyer wanted to be part of the historic firm. Apparently, except for Kim Taehyung.
The relationship you had with Kim Taehyung was practically non-existent. Aside from the very few instances where the two of you crossed paths in the corridors of Hangguk University – School of Law and the fact that you used to be the tutor of his good friend Park Jimin in Obligations and Contracts, the two of you never really shared a proper conversation with each other. He mostly kept to himself whenever Jimin wasn't around; always had his head ducked in between the pages of his law books and hands busy digesting cases.
So, you were surprised when he suddenly told you, "I didn't know you worked here, Y/N."
Keeping your composure, you put on a smile (it was your job after all and he was still your customer) and replied, "I've been working here since junior year of college."
"I see. I'm actually friends with Seokjin hyung." He said, drinking his beer.
"Oh, I didn't know that. He's a great guy and an even greater boss." You said, tucking the strand of hair that fell from your messy bun.
"He is," Taehyung agreed, setting his half-glass of beer on the coaster. "When's your shift over?"
Now, that was even more surprising. Blinking your eyes rapidly, you asked, "What?"
He smiled and you felt something twist in your stomach. It was the first time you ever saw him smile and he looked nothing short of beautiful. "I was hoping to take you out for dinner. I have a job proposal for you, if you want it."
"A job proposal? What is it?" You asked, perhaps, too eagerly.
"It's better to talk about it in a more private space. It's an... intimate job but it's not what you think it is. I'm not that kind of guy." Taehyung flicked his hair, showing off his soft brown eyes and thick, long eyelashes.
"Well, now that you said that, I'm going to assume that is it that." You said, scoffing lightly.
The corner of his lips tugged into a small smirk. "Ms. Y/L/N, if that's what I wanted―I need not be here, making conversation with you and asking you out for dinner. Instead, I'd be at some bar, walk up to the person I want to do that with and ask them if they want to go back to my place and do it."
And you didn't really have any arguments for that. He was Kim Taehyung and he probably already had someone to call for that. You pressed your lips together then exhaled deeply. "My shift ends at eight."
"I'll pick you up then. See you at eight, Ms. Y/L/N." He pulled out a couple of cash from his wallet and placed it beside the glass. "You can keep the change, as well."
