Mock trials were one of the most important and most looked forward to by law students upon entering law school. The idea was simple: students were divided into prosecution and defense and were given a case to defend. The case would revolve around whichever the beadle of the blocks picked from the draw. The law professors served as the judges, evaluating the performance of each team on the presentation, cross-examination and the paperwork. The mock trials happened for a week, two teams each day and usually lasted the entire day. Everyone who had free time during the scheduled mock trial was welcome to watch. After all, the Hangguk University Moot Court was the biggest moot court in the country, courtesy of the generous donations from alumni. Families were welcome to watch too but since your grandparents were all the way back in Daegu and Soeul needed to prepare for her mock trial with her group, you found yourself standing alone among the sea of law students with their group of friends and family members. Well, until you saw Jeon Jungkook walking towards you with a cup of coffee in hand and a bright smile plastered on his face.
He had definitely dressed up for the occasion and you knew, even when your attention was solely on him, that he captured everyone's attention. Wearing a pair of black slacks—you didn't even know Jeon Jungkook had slacks in his closet—and a light blue pinstripe polo was tucked in it with the collar buttons and two top buttons undone and black leathered shoes. When he finally stood in front of you, he handed you the cup of coffee. "I probably shouldn't have bought this because of the caffeine but I also know this is your charger and you're gonna do great anyways so drink up, Attorney."
You took the cup from his hand, smiling widely at him. "Thank you, Jungkook. For this and for coming."
"Well, Soeul would not get off my case if I didn't come." Jungkook teased, shrugging his shoulders while you rolled your eyes and took a sip from your hot latte. "No, but seriously. I know this is an important event for you and I know you wish your grandparents were here instead of me so—,"
You shook your head. "No. I mean, I wish they were but I'm glad you're here, Jungkook. It means a lot to me." Before you knew it, you found yourself wrapping your arms around his neck and hugging him. Jungkook stood still for a moment but eventually, his strong arms wrapped around your waist and he hugged you back. He smelled like Downy, the fabric conditioner, and after shave mixed with his signature perfume.
"Anything for you, Y/N." He whispered.
"Y/N." Upon hearing that familiar deep, baritone voice, you froze in Jungkook's arm. Immediately, you pulled yourself away from Jungkook and turned on your heels to find Taehyung standing behind you, hands buried inside his pockets, an unreadable expression on his face.
Again, there was that feeling that you were doing something you weren't supposed to be doing. "Taehyung." You said as he approached you. Clearing your throat, you placed a hand on Taehyung's arm when he stood beside you and said, "Taehyung, this is one of my good friends, Jungkook. Jungkook, this is Taehyung—,"
Taehyung extended his hand out, his free arm snaking around your waist. "I'm Atty. Kim Taehyung, Y/N's fiance."
Jungkook shook his hand. "Nice to meet you." He said, a polite smile plastered on his face. "You're really lucky to be marrying Y/N here. She's a great person."
Taehyung pulled you closer to his side gently. "I really am." He faced you. "Y/N, can I talk to you for a second before you head inside?"
You looked at Jungkook. "I'll see you afterwards." You told him and he nodded. You followed Taehyung to a private area near the moot court. "Taehyung, I—,"
"I just wanted to wish you good luck in private during the mock trial. I know you'll do great. I know it's hard to be confident but try and it'll help you present your case and defend your client." Taehyung grabbed your free hand and from the inside pocket of his coat, he pulled out a pen and placed it on your palm. "I call this my lucky pen. It's up to you whether you want to use it or not but this helped me during my trials. I hope it helps you too."
