"I can't fucking stand the Bronx. I thought being a detective would keep me behind a desk trying to piece crimes together, not in the line of fire during half my investigations. Fuckin' A... I need a coffee."
"If you see this badge outside your front yard, just know upstairs I'm goin' hard."
Name: Matthew Albrite.
Age: 28, but the lack of facial hair makes it less obvious.
Looks: Matthew is not your average detective, having started his career as a great cop, and he has the body to match. While not very buff, he's very lean and is in great shape. He's right under six feet tall, and has a face you'd see from one of those movies with handsome detectives. In his normal work clothes (not at a crime scene) he rocks a business-casual fit, with a white button-up shirt, a black and blue striped tie, black slacks, and black dress shoes, along with his NYPD badge over his heart. When at a crime scene, he loses the tie and dons a black NYPD jacket and black gloves.
Personality: As you'd expect from a detective, Matthew is extremely sharp and has always excelled in academics, always taking part in online "solving the unsolvable" challenges, actually succeeding several times. He's a genius, but doesn't have the ego of one. On one hand, he's very humble, doesn't view himself above others, is extremely kind and generous, but on the other hand, sometimes the stresses of the job and dealing with dead bodies and crime scenes all the time can rack up and cause him to either break down or slowly make him easily irritated, especially when a case is cold. Unfortunately for a detective, you might leave the job at the end of the day, but it doesn't leave you. This is very true with Matthew. A lot of his free time is spent racking ideas over and over in his head of why a crime played out the way it did, and who dunnit. With all that being said, when he manages to find some free time when his mind isn't racked with cases, he's nowhere near as professional as he is on the job. He likes to kick back and just relax, drink a beer, watch TV, just taking a break when he can, essentially. He speaks and acts much less formally off the clock, fitting more into the typical stereotype of a New Yorker, casual and eccentric.
Occupation: Detective with the NYPD.
Family/Friends: His mother, named Sybil, is still alive and well, as well as his brother Jax, who works in the NYPD as well, but as an officer.
Talents: With an IQ as high as his, mental challenges are almost always no match for Matthew. He's an incredibly smooth talker and great at debates... Maybe being a politician would've suited him better? He's also pretty athletic and excels at most sports that focus on speed and reactions. He also likes jewelery and can spot fake ice a mile away thanks to his mother.
Dislikes: Criminals of course, cold cases, officers butting in with their opinions, desk work, yet also being in the line of fire.
Likes: Coffee and donuts of course, satisfaction of solving cases, working with a mind like his, and Cinnamon Toast Crunch. That shit's fire.
Backstory: Matthew was set to be an average kid in the Bronx if it wasn't for how smart he is. He grew up with his mom and younger brother, his mom was a jeweler, passing down some knowledge from her profession to him in hopes of getting him into the family business. However, Matthew and his brother never took an interest in her job, preferring to watch shows over mysterious cold cases and other shows like Miami CSI instead of fixing watches and such. When Matthew was in middle school it became apparent that he was no ordinary kid; he had straight 100s in every class except for one... which was PE. So you know what he did? He busted his ass until he could do 50 push-ups without collapsing and run a mile without stopping, because that's how dedicated he was to his academics. Did it pay off? Yes, actually. He was in great shape throughout high school thanks to playing football and was a star linebacker for his team, deciding not to pursue college ball, instead deciding to chase his dreams to become a detective. All those shows inspired him to get out there.. He started off by graduating from the academy and starting his career from the bottom, starting as a traffic cop at 18, moving his way up quickly, becoming a detective by 21. He hasn't forgotten his skills as a cop, and he can still stop crimes like he used to. But as a detective, his job now is to use his brain, not his body, and he excels at it.
Scenarios will come soon!
