Just a little note, I haven't played Genshin for several months, so I may have gotten their personalities or other factors switched.I apologize in advance! Thank you!
Xingqiu's POV
I sat under the shade of a tree and opened up my book. Books were comforting, though they are delicate and can be ruined easily. I disliked snow. They are one of the many things that can destroy the crisp, delicate pages of books. But for Chongyun, I bear with it.
"Xingqiu?" Chongyun waved his hand in front of my face. I blinked and slipped the ribbon bookmark through the freshly minted pages while shaking my head. "Apologies, my liege, I was engrossed in my book." I said. Chongyun laughed softly and shook his head. "I guessed so. You always drown everything out and get all trance-like when you read." he said. "Apologies. What were you trying to say?" I asked. Chongyun sat down next to me and waved his hand in the air briefly. "It's the first snow of the season. It's beautiful." he said. I nodded in spite of what I thought. I didn't want to hurt Chongyun's feelings; I knew he admired and marveled over snow. I shivered as a cold gust of wind blew my hair into my face. I clutched my book close to my chest to shield it from the snow, which was coming down in heavy flakes now. I stood up but kept my book in my arms. "I'll be retreating inside now. It's a little cold out here." I said, trying my best not to hurt Chongyun. But he just laughed. "Note to self, bring several blankets for Xinqiu before we sit in the snow again."
I entered the small house that Chongyun and I shared and walked into the bedroom. The bedroom was divided into two sides; Chongyun's and mine. We made it black and white for Yin and Yang, Chongyun's side being white and mine being black. His side of the room was simple, consisting of a bed, a small ice box full of popsicles, a small table near his bed, and a chair in the corner. My side was a bed, a desk, and bookshelves.
I sat on my windowsill and opened up my book. I glanced out the window and at Chongyun, who seemed to be enjoying the snowfall. He was going to catch a cold out there dressed like he was. I grabbed two blankets off of my bed and set my book on the windowsill. Emerging into the windy, cool air, I approached Chongyun and handed him a blanket. "You're going to catch a cold, my liege." I told him. He accepted the blanket with a smile. "Thanks, Xingqiu. You're always looking out for me, huh." he acknowledged. "Possibly." I wrapped myself up in the other blanket. I watched Chongyun do the same, only paying half attention since he was staring at the snowflakes as they fell. I had the unfamiliar feeling of something that I didn't have earlier. I remembered suddenly that my book was still inside. Most people would find this odd, but it brought a strange discomfort knowing that I had no book with me. My hands felt empty and cold. They ached for something to grasp; the familiar touch of a book cover. Of course, I didn't tell Chongyun this, because he would potentially have me go back inside. I didn't want him to be out in the cold alone.
Chongyun's POV
The blanket Xingqiu gave me was warm and fuzzy. I never saw him in bed, even if I woke up in the middle of the night. I wonder why.
I've noticed Xingqiu hasn't been himself lately.
The snow fell gently and landed on the snow that had fallen before it. It was a mesmerizing process, really. I was starting to get hungry and I had no popsicles on me, so I decided to go inside and get something to eat. Xingqiu followed me and looked relieved when he settled down at his desk with a book in front of him. I sat on my bed and pulled out a popsicle, checking the clock. It was 10:00 already. I glanced at Xingqiu. He had a book set on his desk, and he was reading it with his headphones on. I decided not to bug him. I got up and left the room, then figured that I should either go back outside or watch some TV. The snow looked too intense even for me. There was nothing good on TV, so I decided to go back into our room. Xingqiu was still reading. I checked the clock again. It was 10:30. I laid in bed, tossing and turning and not being able to fall asleep. I finally just buried my head into my pillow and thought of snow. Snow was magical.
I finally fell asleep around midnight and was startled awake by a tree slamming against my window. I glanced at the clock again. 2:54. Everything in the room was dark except for Xingqiu's lamp, which was flickering on and off. Xingqiu's head was resting on his arm (which was on the book on his desk) while his other arm was hanging limply at his side. His headphones were still on. I started by taking his headphones off and closing his book for him. I grabbed his pillow and slipped it between his head and his arm before draping one of his blue, fuzzy blankets over him. "No need, my liege... the world won't cease... to rotate..." he murmured in his sleep. I tried not to laugh. He was dreaming. I turned his lamp off and pulled his ponytail out. His dark blue hair fell into his face. I wondered how long he'd been asleep for as I walked back into my bed and fell asleep silently.
I was awake before Xingqiu, which was rare (that is, if he slept anyway. He could be just doing other things while I'm asleep). I grabbed a popsicle and walked outside into the snow. It was still snowing, and the snow was piling up. When I walked back inside, Xingqiu was waiting for me with a small case of bedhead. "Oh, hey, you're up." I commented. He yawned. "Thank you for what you did last night, my liege. It was unnecessary." he said. I shook my head. "You would've done the same if we'd switched positions." I replied. He flashed a smile at me before walking away with a yawn. It made my heart beat faster when he thanked me. The way he called me "my liege" made me feel special. And his bed head was so cute. So was the way he slept and his sleeptalking. Xingqiu himself was kinda cute.
