Kaia Salvatore is the youngest daughter of Zach Salvatore. When Damon kills him, he decides to raise Kaia instead of sending her to an orphanage. But when the Originals return to Mystic Falls, they recognize Kaia as their youngest sister.

This was the day the Salvatore brothers were taking Kaia to meet the Mikaelsons. A day Damon had been dreading and avoiding since they'd made the plans a week and a half ago.
It wasn't fair.
Kaia was his.
He wasn't sure what exactly their intentions were, but he knew they meant no harm. Elijah and Kaia had formed a very powerful bond that shocked and frightened him at first.
What if she replaces me?
What would I do without her?
The little girl was currently asleep on his shoulder, one of her little hands clutching the collar of his shirt and pulling on the little hairs at the back of his neck.
"Kaia watched me pick out her outfit last night, Caroline. She said she had to look as pretty as Elijah did after the first hour of trying to decide."
Damon couldn't help the silent snort that escaped him. Stefan paced behind the couch next to them as he argued with the relentless blonde over the phone. She was unsurprisingly aggressive in her desire to dress up the tiny Salvatore for this meeting, and Stefan was dangerously close to giving her free reign of his little niece if it meant she'd stop screeching in his ear.
He would most definitely sell Kaia out if it meant not having to deal with Caroline
"She's still sleeping... Okay."
Damon rolled his eyes, amused his brother had let the blonde bully him into getting what she wanted. Again.
Stefan saw his brother's signature smug smirk and had the brief urge to snap his neck. An urge he might've acted on if their one precious person wasn't napping on the menace's shoulder. So Stefan heaved a sigh and dropped heavily on the opposite couch.
