In the picture I saw my mom.
My real mom.
I looked at the date.
9/13/12.
I got really scared.
A sick feeling was starting in my stomach.
"Sweetie whats taking so long?" She said as if she cared.
"I have to use the bathroom," I yelled.
"Ok," she said.
I quickly ran to the bathroom.
I tried to sort it out in my mind.
'Who do I call Calum, or my dad.'
My dad was the one who probably brought her in.
So I called Calum.
"Calum, I'm really scared right now. There's a woman in the house posing as my mom. My real mom died three years ago. Please come and pick me up," I said with fear obviously sounding in my words.
"It's ok. Don't be scared. I'm coming to get you." He said.
All these years I've been living with a random woman.
My dad never told me about having a step mom.
"Cayla, you have a friend at the door," she said with excitement.
"Coming," I said with relief.
I ran to the door.
I opened it.
"Hey, Cayla. You ok? Where is your 'mom'?" He said.
I nodded my head at her direction.
"Oh, uh hey Mrs.Price. Nice to meet you," he said, reaching out his hand.
"Oh, hi. You must be Calum?" She said.
He nodded his head yes.
"Ok Cal, I have a task for you. Go to my room and pack some of my clothes. I'll do the rest, got it?" I whispered.
"Got it," he said.
I ran to the kitchen.
"Hey mom. I have a question for you. What kind of cake did I have on my ninth birthday?" I asked.
"Oh, it was a little cake, with a mermaid on it. When you first saw it, you almost died," she said with a little laugh.
I gave her a fake laugh.
My plan was to go live with Calum until I can get my own house.
"Cayla, Cayla, come on I'll drive you to my house," he said.
"Bye mom, I'm going to sleep over at Calum's house," I said with a smile.
"Ok, don't have too much fun you little rascals," she said with an annoying laugh.
After I left the door, I realized what I was doing.
How am I going to run away when I just found out that she was not my mom.
Clearly there was something else to do then this, right.
I was never good at making decisions.
How did I come to this.
"You coming Cayla?" He asked.
"Huh, oh, yeah," I said.
After the walk, we made it to his house.
When he opened the door, I saw three other guys in the house.
There was one tall blonde with blue eyes and a lip piercing.
He was sitting at the couch eating a bowl of ice cream.
Another had skunk like hair.
He had green eyes and thin pink lips.
He was watching tv with the blonde.
The third one had short curly hair.
He was also on the couch.
He had ginormous hands.
Whatever was on the tv, they were so into it they didn't notice I was here.
"Ahem," Calum said to get their attention.
They all looked in our direction.
"Guys meet Cayla, Cayla this is Luke, Michael, and Ashton," he said a little proud of himself.
"Oh, I see you got yourself a new girlfriend!" Michael, I'm assuming, said.
"What, no, this is my friend. You know I'm dating Carline," he said.
What how is this possible.
He seems so nice and kind.
How did he end up with that thing mistaken as a girl.
I felt a little pain in my chest.
My heart can't be broken when I first met him today.
I don't know much about this kid.
"Hey Cal, where is the bathroom?" I asked.
"Down the hall on the right," he said.
I took my bag into the bathroom.
After I was done I heard the door bell ring.
"It's for you Cayla!" I heard Ashton say.
I unlocked the bathroom door and walked to the front door.
After I got there, I suddenly got scared.
"Hey Cayla. Fancy seeing you here." He said.
