(POV:Reader)
-"You know I wish I could be a doll, being able to dance all day and living in a castle"
-"Come Pavlova, let's dance" I sat on my knees and picked up her little paws. She stood on her back legs and moved them as I moved her back and forth, which is what we called 'dancing'.
-"I wish I had someone to dance with...like Louise"
-"She gets to call Erik over all the time, and dance with him"
-"Even mother and father, they dance whenever they feel like it"
I set Pavlova down and walked to light the fireplace. The little candle I had turned on earlier wasn't enough light. I walked back after turning it on and Pavlova dropped a Christmas ornament.
-"Pavlova! You're gonna get hurt! Don't move!" I put the nutcracker back in the cabinet and began to pick up the pieces of broken ornament.
-"You really must be careful" I looked up at the clock to check the time.
-"Uncle Drosselmeyer!" I gasped in surprise, seeing his ghost-ish version standing above the clock with his cape wrapped around himself.
I closed my eyes and patted my face, I opened them once more and he was gone.
-"I think it's time for bed, come Pavlova" I picked up the candle, lit it and stopped when I heard a little squeaking sound.
-"What-what is that?" the clock rang the time, but instead of the wood owl that was usually perched onto, was uncle Drosselmeyer.
-"Uncle Drosselmeyer! Is that you! Come down this minute and stop frightening me!" I whispered-yelled, but instead of answering he opened his coat allowing golden rays of dust to flow everywhere.
-"What-what's happening, what is this?!" I looked around the room and little mice were everywhere.
I gasped in surprise, nearly dropping the candle. I backed up slowly and they followed me taking out small little objects, which I assumed were to be used as weapons.
-"Pavlova look, little mice, don't they look funny?" Pavlova walked a bit chasing them.
The little mice screamed in fear and spread out, running to any hiding place they could find. Pavlova had chased one that had hidden in between the presents underneath the Christmas tree.
-"Pavlova, silly kitten!" I giggled at my kitten jumping around trying to catch the poor mouse.
But suddenly she let out frightened 'meows', she backed away from under the sofa chair she had been under, and ran to me. I turned over to where she had been and a small sword tore the fabric.
