"I love you too"
Sasha Clay just stared at her phone in bewilderment, not blinking, taking all the events in, unmoving from her place on the couch. "What are you watching so intently?" her roommate walked in, a glass of juice in her hand, now standing directly behind Sasha,
"Bus boy," The raven haired woman simply said before passing the phone to her roommate.
"Oh my god," she just whispered, before she could say anything Sasha got up in Alarm.
"Something is very wrong here Xialing." Sasha paced around the room "after all these years why now?"
"You're thinking too much Sash,"
"I don't know what your father is up to, but it's not gonna do any of us good," she plopped down back on the couch "and don't act like you're not bothered by this," she smirked,
"Get out of my head Sasha" Xialing warned with a playful smile "we'll see, what could possibly go wrong?"
"I'll take down those words and use it against you Ma'am,"
Sasha was terrified, she looked at her uncle from the floor, his friends having the greatest time exploiting her "gifts" "Freak!" The man yelled at her, making her jump, "Tell me" he demanded. Sasha vigorously nodded quickly looking at the men sitting to the side opposite to her uncle and his friends, she looked back at her uncle and nodded once, getting a satisfying yet disgusting smile from him as they cheered their victory.
It all happened so fast, but right then she was covered in blood, his blood, she tried to get up but the grief, pain and power kept her down, but it wasn't hers "are you lost?"
Sasha shook her head and pointed at her uncle's body "bad."
"come with me.'' Sasha simply nodded, more than happy to leave. Following the man, they were his. All the emotions that pushed her were his. Sasha's eyes fell on the young boy, he was around her age, he was confused and sad. So very sad. "A blood debt has to be paid by blood. Will you help me?" he asked the boy who just nodded. "You can come with us child." he motioned to the boy "help her."
"I'm Shang-Chi." he spoke in a small voice after a beat, the two trailing behind the man.
"Sasha."
-8 years later-
"I'll be back."
"No you won't."
"Three days."
"Lie to me all you want Shang Chi, not to her, don't do that to her." Sasha looked at Xialing who was sitting by a fountain, Shang-Chi and Sasha were in her room "Please." she let out a wavered whisper, and that was the last straw for him. He cupped the back of her neck, pulling her forward, resting his forehead on hers, the two immediately closed their eyes out of habit. so she could hear him, see him,she knew he had to do it, he needed it, but at what cost? At Xialing's? Will she have to tell his sister he wasn't going to come back?
'I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry' she could hear him oh so loudly, she could feel what he felt at that moment. Guilt. Regret. Pain. numbness. They didn't deserve it.
"Go." She was the first to pull back, taking his hand, giving it a final squeeze, parting from each other, they tried to hold on till the last second knowing they weren't going to see each other anytime soon.

Sasha was finally able to put an inconsolable Xialing to bed, switching off the lights as she walked out of the room, going into his. Not hers. Never hers. She quietly sat on the bed when her eyes fell on the little note with her name on it.
Sash,
You should really learn to sleep in your own bed-
Sasha let out a teary laugh, looking up with a smile.
-I promise to come back, maybe not in three days, but for you? I'll come back, I always will.
Take care of her for me. Take her away from him.
I love you.
Sasha re-read the last line over and over again with wide eyes, he loved her. He loves her?
"I love you too."
