Unlike the past two days of school today, I was late.  I had stayed up reading Dune, I think I finally understand it.  After I finish it I wanna watch the 1980s movie's adaptation of it, I really like comparing movies to their original book selves.  It gives me an opportunity to vent and yell at the TV with a reason, if I didn't have a reason then my parents would get infuriated with me for making such loud noise without cause.  They still don't understand my frustration but they don't ridicule my annoying yelling as much if I give that response when they ask: "Why are you yelling?!"

It was already around time for the third period of the day to start and I still wasn't ready for today to exist.  I was trying to brush my knotty hair out but my hair wasn't untangling.  After five minutes or so my hair finally gave in.  I brushed my teeth, grabbed my bag, and ran out my front door.  Hopefully, I'll make it in time for third period, or at least the end of it.

Since I can't get my driver's license yet since I'm underage I sprinted to school.  Unluckily for me, I lived kinda far from the school so it took me about ten minutes to get to my destination.

I didn't bother to make a pit stop by my locker once I arrived, I needed to get to my class quickly.  Nearly falling over from my exertion I made it to my class.  The teacher gave me lunch detention for the following day for my tardiness, which wasn't too bad.  I expected worse honestly, my old school was pretty strict.  Luckily it doesn't interfere with my date after school.

An hour and a half later it was lunchtime.  I plopped next to Rory at his lunch table with Ethan and Benny.  Sarah, who I had met on my first day, was also sitting with them.

"Hi, guys.  Hey, Sarah."  I started playing with my hands under the table.  Then I looked down at my fidgeting hands to avoid eye contact with Sarah.

"Hey, Ellie.  I thought you didn't want friends."  I didn't look up as she spoke.

"I didn't, but these guys seemed nice."  Awkward.

Finally looking up I saw Ethan smile at me from across the lunch table, I smiled back at him.

"You joining the Ellie hate squad too?"  Benny said while looking over at Sarah.

"No!"  She replied, exasperated.

Rory glared over at Benny, which I thought was funny.  His face wasn't meant to be the type to give glares, it just made him look cuter.

The rest of lunch continued to be awkward with the occasional mean comment from Benny.  Overall I didn't enjoy it at all.  I barely ate because I felt like they were all watching me eat, I am very self-conscious.

At the end of the school day, Rory met me by my locker.  He looked more confident when talking to me now, he didn't seem to feel like I would reject him in any way.

"I'll pick you up at six-thirty for our date."

I was busy grabbing my stuff from my locker so I hadn't looked at him as he spoke.  I felt a little wind blow by me, which was strange since I am currently indoors.  When I turned to where I presumed the blonde was to respond to him he was gone.  Glancing around the room I didn't see any sign of him.  Weird.  People don't usually move that fast.

._.

It was already almost six o'clock and I still had no idea what to wear.  I knew I shouldn't wear something too formal seeing as we were just going to the pizzeria but I didn't want to go underdressed.

I rummaged through my closet hoping to find anything that catches my eye.  I eventually settled on a white and black Queen shirt, a flowy black skirt that stopped a little past my mid-thigh, a dark maroonish cardigan, and black boots.

I have like three and a half hours till the date so I didn't have to get ready yet.  I laid my outfit on the bed and started on my homework.

._.

Three hours later I decided I should probably start getting ready.

I put on my decided outfit and looked in the mirror.  Realizing I forgot to tuck in my t-shirt, I fixed my mistake.  Then I accessorized my appearance with small earrings, a bracelet, and two rings.  My rings kind of contradicted each other because one had a smiling face on it and the other had a crying face.  For makeup, I only put on mascara.

I walked to my living room and plopped down on the couch to wait for Rory.

._.

At exactly 6:30 I heard a knock on my door.  I smoothed out my skirt walked over to the door and then opened it.

I was greeted by a smiling Rory who was standing on the other side of the door with a single rose in his hand.  Pretty cliche if you ask me.  I preferred Black Dahlias, but it's the thought that counts.

"Hi Rory,"  I said with a shy smile.

"I got you this rose.  Sarah said girls like roses on dates."  Rory extended the singular rose to me and I took it.

"You can come in Rory, I want to put this into a vase so it won't die."  He nodded in understanding and walked into the house.  The blonde looked around my house and settled on the couch as I went into the kitchen to retrieve a vase from a cabinet.

I turned on the sink and put the sink water into the vase.  Then I put the red flower into its new home.  I placed the vase in the center of the kitchen island and then returned to the living room that Rory currently occupied.

He was tapping a rhythm onto his knee while looking around, he stopped when he noticed that I had re-entered the room.

"We can go now, Rory."

He got up and we walked out of the house.  I looped my arm through his then we were off to the location of our date.
