The bird

Hailey couldn't even eat her lunch. She kept thinking about Claudia and how she managed to enter and leave the bathroom without her even knowing. The bell rang. It was time to get ready for the next class. Hailey went to her locker where she found Carter waiting for her.

- Hey. Where did you go ? One minute you're at the cafeteria and the next you're gone.

- If you think that's weird then you're not gonna believe what happened in the bathroom.. Said Hailey.

- Umm... Okay.. Replied Carter.

- You didn't say you were dating Jade...

- Uh yaa.. About that .. I decided i'm gonna break up with her.

- Do tell...

- Well I kind of cheated on her last summer ..

- WHAT!? What do u mean kind of ? With who ? Screamed Hailey.

- Chloe.....

- OH MY GOD !!!! Her best friend ??!! You're such a doochbag

- I know !! but please don't tell anyone .. I'm breaking up with her so I don't feel guilty about it. What she doesn't know... won't hurt her.

- Your secret is safe with me. Said Hailey happy to finally have a friend.

- Great ! I gotta go see ya later ! Said Carter while walking away.

Hailey couldn't stop blushing. She was so happy to have someone who tells her secrets. Even though it was a dirty secret. Hailey was opening her locker when suddenly... A black bird came flying out. It was a raven. Hailey screamed of terror. Everyone stopped what they were doing and staired at her.

- There was a black bird in my locker !!!!! Screamed Hailey to everyone.

The students all just walk away whispering the words ''loser'' and ''freak'' to her. The raven just disappeared into thin air. Hailey didn't know what to do. She just took her stuff and ran to her next class.

The day was finally over. Hailey drove home still freaked out about the bird. She was driving so fast she almost hit a boy crossing the street.

- HEEY !!!! WATCH WHERE YOU' RE GOING!!!! Screamed the boy while placing his glasses back on properly.

- Sorry !!! Said Hailey .

She finally got home. She ran upstairs as fast as she could to avoid seeing her stepfather Eric. Hailey didn't like him at all. He always acted all nice and sweet when they went to dinners and parties with her, her mom and sister Hanna. But when they got home, he would yell and curse Hailey and Hanna for no reason at all. They never tell their mom because they want her to be happy. Hailey has been avoiding him for over a week now. Yes. A week. As soon as she got to her room, she saw that the door was open ... She always closes it before leaving so she knows that someone was in there. She entered to find all her stuff on the floor and her window open.

- WHAT HAPPENED in here ??!!

Hailey turned around and saw the person she hated to most .. Her stepfather.
