A/N: Hello everyone!! Well, it's been another challenging year for many and I think that was in fact actually a great understatement!! For those who have made it this far to the end of the year, I congratulate you for your efforts and perseverance. I'd say It's been another challenging year for many. Yet, within the limitations of who we get to see, touch and feel, I think we still managed to connect, bond and grow together and for that, I am extremely grateful, thank you all so much for being a part of my growth and development as a writer. It has given me great strength and pleasure to write for you all and for that, I am eternally grateful. Wishing you all a safe and a Happy Christmas..!!
Brett's POV
25. Twoset De-Gloved IX:
Eddy looked over his shoulder as he called out to me whilst I was having my morning coffee;
"So, um, Brett, y'wanna go and see the Christmas lights together?"
I looked up to get a better look at his face. I saw Eddy blush and return a shy smile. I saw the excitement in his eyes as pretty little twinkles, as if he was a young teenager again. I loved what I heard and saw and I smiled.
"Yeah, Eddy.. oh my god, for real? Just the two of us? Eddy, really?!"
He smiled a shy smile again as he replied excitedly,
"Yes, for real. I mean, there's gonna be a lot of people around us, but on the day it will just be the two of us together admiring the Christmas lights. For sure and for real. Would you like that?"
I nodded as I stammered back my reply enthusiastically,
"Y, yes!! I.. I think I would definitely like that.. very much."
I saw his face light up with excitement, just like a Christmas tree, with his gorgeous smile that I had always adored. I struggled to hide my own big grin that had quickly spread across my face from ear to ear whenever I got excited about him. Or about us. We live in a lovely suburb in Brisbane in which the whole community would get together, visiting each other's houses to admire their beautifully decorated Christmas trees and houses with pretty Christmas lights. They would ask our visitors for a small donation in exchange for viewing our Christmas decorations. So he had asked me out to go see these Christmas lights together! He had asked me and I had accepted. I was so, so, excited!! Hey, maybe, just maybe, y'know, we could stand, very, very close to each other when we walk along the pathways and perhaps we could perhaps practice holding hands with each other as we walk together, side by side, under the warm, dewy, Australian summer night sky? Under the sultry, damp, humid, Australian summer night sky? Maybe the night will be kind to us, be on our side and maybe let me become bolder and braver?
Because there's gonna be so many people and 10 years is a long time that allows and accepts lots of changes that have taken place in the last 10 years around us. And I'll get to hold Eddy's hand as we walk along the garden paths as we point out and admire the nice houses that are beautifully decorated with pretty Christmas lights and cute Christmas decorations. And when it gets so hot, not because of the Brisbane summer temperature, but because I've been holding hands with the love of my life and I am starting to get confused and can no longer work out whether it's my hand that has started to melt and merge with yours or perhaps it's the other way around and it's your hand that has melted into mine? By now I am wondering where your body ends and where mine begins. Just where did it start to melt and merge and become a part of me? Do you think, oh, do you think in this ridiculous heat, our bodies could just simply melt and merge as one? How I missed that feeling of such intense intimacy. As far as intimacy goes, when we talked about sharing boundaries, I'd say this would have to be the furthest I've ever gone with Duncan. Physically It was still relatively innocent in the way we were experimenting by stretching our boundaries, seeing just how physically close we could be to each other. To entrust the ridiculously hot Brisbane summer to help us melt and merge our bodies together. I think there was more we could've done, but I remembered how I wasn't quite ready to show and share every part of me with you yet and I got scared and had asked Duncan to stop.
