School let out at the usual time of 3:30. But I wasn't allowed to leave until five because of detention. I was caught drawing on the desk again. I've been told that I have a very active imagination. But what ten year old doesn't? However there are certain things that people see that even though they are beyond reason, that are very much real.

I didn't see them until I was walking home from school. As per usual I took the same route home. Only difference was that today I saw a pair of awesome green glasses. Green is my favorite color and this shade was out of this world. My cousin taught me finder's keepers so I picked them up and put them on.

Even with the deep but also bright green I could still see fine. The shade didn't bother me. But a few minutes later I started seeing little things that looked like rodents running across the sidewalk a couple of feet ahead of me. They couldn't have been rodents because they were running on two legs. At least that's what it looked like.

I took off the glasses to see if maybe I can get a better look at them thinking the shade is causing me not to see well. But I never saw any run by. Shrugging it off I put my shades on again and kept on walking.

This time more than one ran by. And definitely on two feet.

"Food. Food. They have provided once more! Eeaaat!!"

That came from behind me! Quickly turning around I get a clear view of the little things. If a porcupine and rat can have a baby and that baby a has skull face, then I'm looking right at it. There were dozens of them. Some were bigger than others but none were bigger than a rat.

Hearing scampering behind me and tiny claws I turn and see more have come. All repeating the words I thought I had imagined.

"Food. Food. They have provided once more! Eeaaat!!" Every single one of their little jaw muscles moving to utter those words.

I'm almost paralyzed until I feel one of jump on me and bite my neck. It may have been a relatively small bite but that doesn't mean it wasn't painful. That seemed to snap me out of it. Grabbing the little thing I toss it against the others and start running towards... anywhere that they're not!

"Mom!"

"Mommy! Dad!"

I get even more scared cause now I'm lost. I'm suppose to stay on that street to get home but I had run away. But I can't go back because I can hear them behind me.

"Mo-" Something trips me and I bit my head on the floor. When I try to get up and run again I can't cause my ankles are being tied up. The little rat things are wrapping me up really fast with the ropes.

Next thing I know I'm being dragged back to the my street and towards the woods. "Mommy! Daddy!" And that's it.

Sometime later, about a month, there's a little kid playing hopscotch in the park. Tossing their rock for the next turn it lands next to a pair of glasses. They get excited because it's in their favorite color. They put it on and smile because they think they look cool with them. Running back to find their dad to ask if they can keep them they hear hushed growling.

"Food. Food. They have provided once more! Eeaaat!!"
