"Lieutenant Mason ! " Lieutenant Major Carlos Mason called to his son as he walked up to him . " You are granted leave . Go visit your grandmother . She says if she doesn't see you soon , she's gonna cut me out of her damn will and I need that . It's only for 3 weeks . Then you are going on tour in Iraq . "

Without saying another word , he turned around and walked off leaving Christopher feeling elated . He could finally go on leave . He ran to his private bunk and packed a bag .

He missed his granny Elaine so much &' it was killing him that he hadn't seen her since he was 13 . Now he get to be with her for 3 whole weeks .

He couldn't fucking wait to breathe some fresh air and see all his cousins , especially Cairo . That was his favorite cousin no doubt . Even though he's the reason Chris was stuck in the military life .

Getting on to his knees , he prayed that he would have a safe flight and that he would have the best time in North Carolina . Then he turned in for the night . Grateful that he had an early flight .

I woke up around 4 am and did my normal routine then grabbed my bag and hit the road . I caught a cab to the airport then waited for my flight to Fayetteville .

I had to wait 2 hours for the plane to start boarding but once I got on it , I took a nap and woke up once we landed .

I traveled through the airport quickly , grabbing my bag from baggage claim then going outside to catch another cab .

"Aye , you gotta be Chris ! "

" Yeah he looks just like you babe . "

I turned around seeing a tall black man standing with a pregnant brown skinned woman .

Looking closer , I could tell that this was my cousin . " Cairo . " I said going towards him . We embraced in a bro hug and he introduced me to his wife .

" This is Amara , my wife of 2 years . " I shook her hand as she smiled up at me . " and this little one is my baby girl , Natalie . We got 2 more months left until we get to meet her and I'm so excited . " Cairo talked the whole way to their car .

" How you know I was gone be here ? Do everybody know I'm home ? " I asked with a attitude . I could see the bullshit now . Our family wasn't nothing but stupid get togethers and fake ass drama . I don't think I could handle the shit right now .

" You know granny told my mama and she told everybody . "

" Yeah and then everybody told everybody . It's okay though Chris . We have plans anyway . " Amara said before Cairo cut her off .

" Only if you want to cuz . Don't let her think you just got to . " He said sifting in and out of traffic .

" It would be nice though . My girl needs this . "

" Your girl ? " I asked getting a bad feeling .

" Yes , we're going on a double date to the movies . My friend Tiffany is coming . I wanted her to meet you . " she said making me roll my eyes .
