I lifted my drink up to my lips, the burning liquid soothing my throat instead of catching it on fire. It did sting when I breathed in the cold air outside of the gymnasium, but I would rather feel the pain of my throat burning alive than being hounded by the big crowd of girls searching for me inside.
College wasn't the best place (for me) to meet many solid friends. Or girlfriend for that matter. Sure I was popular, but that never meant I was any happier. Sure I've met some great people, but overall not a lot of the students here turned out to be great friends of mine. Tonight is the final party before we are all released into the world to search for our careers, but for me personally, I'm not sure where I'm going. Who knows, maybe I'll end up in some insane asylum once I'm out of this hell of a school.
I kicked off the wall I was leaning against and decided to just walk around to ease my running mind. Hey, maybe I'd get lucky with a passing girl and spend the night in somebody else's dormroom. It was very possible, many of the girls enjoyed my company if you know what I mean. But none of my run-ins with people here on campus ever felt right, at least...not the passionate ones.
As I walked down another hall and out into what seemed to be an amphitheater just outside of the math classrooms, I noticed that this place seemed to be a popular make-out location after school hours. At least six couples were on the steps, two behind some trees, and who knows how many in the empty classrooms. I sighed heavily and discovered a lonely tree that sat in front of one of the English rooms just on the other side of the amphitheater, and I ran over to claim it before another couple passed by and found it too.
Satisfied, I sat down on the damp grass and let out a breath that created a cloud of cold air in front of my face. I tossed my drink in a nearby garbage can, and leaned back to take a quick nap. Maybe I'll sleep here for the night... I thought to myself. Better than my dorm bed at least.
"I would advise you not to sit there," a voice said from above.
My eyes jerked open and my heart had jumped just for a second. I darted my eyes around, followed by me head, searching for where the voice came from.
There was laughter after that. "Up here," it said.
I looked up toward the English building's steps and saw just a silhouette perched at the top of them. I gulped slightly and didn't know whether to move or not, but the mystery man decided for me. The figure walked down a few steps and the shadows revealed a boy, about my age, black hair, lean physique. He seemed cute, but also a little nerdy with the sweater he had on and a pair of khaki pants.
"Who are you?" I asked stupidly, rising from the comfortable position underneath the tree. The boy stepped closer and shrugged.
"Who are you?" He mocked, giggling soon after. "You sound like I'm going to murder you or something."
I shoved my hands into the pockets of my leather jacket, my nose sniffling when taking in another whiff of cold air. "Well, you scared me for a second. I have no right to react like that?" I questioned.
The boy raised his hand up defensively. "Apologies," he replied. "I'm Castiel, you?"
"Dean," I responded, couldn't helping to bark a laugh at the boy's reaction.
