Was I a selfish person for wanting Castiel to be back in my life?
The years that have passed since he began ignoring my calls have probably been the worst years of my life. I thought that I had finally found someone that would be my ride or die; my partner in crime. But unfortunately, our relationship came to an unexpected end in the year of 2011 when he began his second year of nursing school.
I honestly thought I would marry him.
When he first started ignoring me, it began with the text messages: Sending him a good morning text each day until suddenly I had no response. Of course that didn't spike my attention too much, it was when I tried to call him that really got me worried. After twenty attempted calls within the timeframe of three days, I eventually called one of his brothers, Michael, who had told me Castiel was perfectly fine. He gave no further information than that.
Once things started to cool down at my economy college campus, I immediately drove two states over to where Castiel was going to school and tried to visit his dorm. He never opened the door, or had spoken to me at all.
The last time I ever saw him, was on a date we went on the day before he ignored that initial good morning text, and since then until just a week ago in my office, I have never seen or spoken to him again.
Now, back to the present time:
Surely I deserve at least the reason why he left me, right? Was that too much to ask?
Currently I had a bouquet of flowers on the seat next to mine in my Impala, driving over to his house in the quaint little town of Iverson. I know, it's a bit creepy that I demanded my assistant for his address...oh...maybe I really was the reason why he left me. I've never been controlling over him, just...a bit overprotective at times. Was this a mistake coming here? Now I have to think about everything I had ever done wrong in my life before seeing him. Maybe he was angry about the time I threw his younger brother Gabriel in the pool during a summer party at Garth's.
Forget about it. I shook those thoughts out of my head and continued driving down the streets until I spotted his neighborhood sign in the distance. The drive here was literally only a few miles away from my apartment's city, just the town is a bit difficult to navigate through. All these little shops and restaurants, it was cute, but a bit of a maze when you're driving around it. It reminded me of Cas, he liked small towns like this. He said that our first home together would be in a small town...
I turned the corner into his street and searched the numbers on the homes as I passed by, looking for one with the numbers 6-2-8. They were all multicolored buildings, pretty large homes to if I do say so myself. Definitely bigger than most homes I see in a town like this.
Eventually I made it to where I was faced with this giant house at the end of the road, tucked in the corner and surrounded by an entire magical world of flowers and trees. There was a white picket fence lining the front lawn, and a stone path leading up to the front door. I smiled at the place, so this is where he's been hiding all these years.
I carefully parked in the driveway, grabbing the bouquet before stepping out to investigate the property. I exhaled sharply and collected myself before walking up to the stone path and up to the porch, checking the windows for any signs of life. I saw a figure in there, a small one rolling a toy car back and forth on the windowsill. As I got closer to the front door, I realized it was a young boy. Jack. The son Castiel had adopted I assumed.
The kid was adorable, and his puppy-dog eyes drowned me in adoration when they darted toward me when I had approached closer. I slowly raised my hand, giving him a small wave and a gentle smile. It was like he was fascinated by me, smiling back with a toothy grin and waving shortly after. I gestured towards the door and he turned around, yelling at the empty room he was in. I quickly went up to the door and knocked twice, leaning back and forth nervously on my heels. I bit my nails and messed with my hair while waiting for an answer.
