Chapter 10 - The Truth Revealed

Hana: "I said I am going to divorce Mr. Raymond but before we come to that let me reveal a few important things."

Hana's Dad: "Are you going to talk about THAT and what is this sudden divorce thing?"

Hana: "Dad please let me speak you will eventually understand everything"

Ray: worried and nervous "Ok Hana please speak we won't interrupt"

Hana: "Thanks. So, Mr. Raymond, I am going to tell you how actually your mother died. This is going to come as a huge shock and disappointment for you and I advise you to prepare yourself for this. Uncle and Dad know about this so they won't be shocked but since there is a little bit of worry inside me for you, I am warning beforehand. She takes a deep breath and pauses for a few seconds before speaking. Ok, so on 12th August 2010, that is the day when the blast took place, at the wedding anniversary celebration party of your parents, your mother had called me to talk about something very important. She had also called your sister Renah. It was around 07:15 PM I clearly remember when she called as that was exactly the moment, I was going to message Jiho to bring you to the backyard. I attended your mother's call and she called me to her room, that was room number 108 it was on the ground floor. I went to the room and Renah was already there."

Pauses for a few seconds and then resumes.

Hana: "She told us that she is suffering from Renal Cell Carcinoma it is a type of cancer that occurs in the kidney. You know very well she has only one kidney as a birth deformity. She was in her last stage of cancer as she was not showing symptoms in the initial stages and till the time she started showing symptoms, it was too late. Even uncle had tried every type of medicine from famous specialist doctors but nothing worked. She told us this because she was already counting her days and she was worried the most about you, Mr. Raymond. She was worried because you are (correcting) or you were a fragile soul for whom it might be hard to digest or accept this very fate. So, she wanted to inform us and not you. She was explaining how she wants us to take care of you and I was in tears not being able to accept that she is counting her last days. She explained everything to us and I got a text from Jiho around 08:00 PM asking if I was ready and that she is with Do Hyun nearby the office hallway as they had informed you to go to the backyard and I hope you know why she sent that text. Your mom, me, and Renah were leaving the room and your mom was the last person to leave when the explosion happened and it was so shocking and sudden.

Takes a deep breath and resumes speaking.

Hana: "Renah was out of the room but fell hard on the floor which made her hit her head on the floor quite hard. I went in to grab your mother out and I dragged her out of the room to the hallway. I was out as well. But then I suddenly remembered that the gift I had prepared for you that day was a small box that I had carried with me to your mother's room and I went back to grab that and when I was about to step out of the room the ceiling fell due to a lot of fire and heat all around. It fell on my right leg crushing it completely. I was trying to open the door but the pressure made it close so stronger that I could not open it, the room was closed filled with fire and burning heat all around. My vision was blurry and I collapsed. this is the reason that made me claustrophobic, when I am locked in a room alone, I cannot handle it because of that incident. When I woke up, I was in the hospital."

Ray cries silently with a worried and tensed expression not being able to believe how the actual scene took place. He cups his forehead thinking about all the misery that was thrown before him. Mr. Song left tiny tears while he remembered the scene. Hana's dad was looking at her anxiously at how bravely she was able to describe the terrible memory finally. After a long pause, Hana spoke again.

Hana: "When I woke up in the hospital, I got to know that you were seriously injured. I asked about your mother and Renah who was with her during the incident. Uncle Song was crying at that point not being able to speak anything. My dad told me that Renah was fine though she had injured her head she was fine. Your mother was alive when she reached the hospital but she was unconscious. She had minor injuries on the outside. But since she was out of the room trying to escape with Renah she had tripped off because of the dress falling toward the left of her and the bodyweight fully on her left part. This made her kidney start to bleed which was already weak due to cancer. The doctors tried their best but since she was in her last stage and the kidney was collapsed, she could not survive." Hana cries silently while she described these incidents.

Ray: weeping "All these years I have been cursing you, humiliating you, and shouting at you believing you were the reason for my mother's death. I am not able to believe this. Why did you never inform me of this? You could have told the truth in the first place itself? Why did you lie initially? This is too shocking for me and cancer? He turns to his dad. Why was I not informed? Why did you hide this dad?"

Mr. Song: sobbing "your mom had strictly told me not to let you know"

Hana: "Mr. Raymond, you were not in the state at that time to handle extreme emotions due to your head injury. I held it in for 10 years. But this time I really felt that I must let you know the truth. It will be hard for you to digest all this and I might be breaking you apart with another thing right now that is our divorce"

Hana's Dad: "Dear please don't. we promised you happiness. You said you are ready to face the challenges. Give it some more time. Don't make hasty decisions please"

Hana: "Dad I know all that. But here Mr. Raymond does not love me or accept me as his wife. He has another woman named Chae Boram in his heart and I am not ready to get cheated upon or maybe I was cheated already. He can very well divorce me and meet the love of his life freely without any pressure of hiding it from me or taking the burden of being married to someone and meeting a new woman!"

Hana's Dad is so shocked by it that pain forms around his chest and by the time others can realize he faces a cardiac arrest.

Hana: "What is wrong dad? Dad? Dad? You, ok dad? teary Uncle, what is happening?"

Mr. Song: "Shit it is a heart attack!!! Ray, call the ambulance fast!!!!"

Ray: "OMG uncle!!!" grabs the phone and calls the ambulance immediately.

Hana is crying a lot. The ambulance arrives and they go to the hospital. After 2 hours the doctor comes out of the operation theatre.
