Chapter 5 - Career Growth and Renah's Wedding

Jiho graduated and even completed her internship. She got a job at KY Hospital. Do Hyun had finished his military service and returned long ago. He attended a few interviews in many entertainment companies to join as assistant directors and finally he joined YB Entertainment. I have completed my master's and now I have a whole set of beautiful students I meet every year. 

Even though I was making good money enough for my living, I made great art pieces, my students love me, and I guide them, but somewhere within me I could feel and sense an emptiness. The emptiness of not being able to showcase my true self like how I used to be. I talk less I have a lot to say but refrain myself from speaking. I am happy professionally but my personal life is just broken.

We expected Ray's return after two years of our graduation as that is what he had told us, but he did not. Renah told us that he is doing internships in various multinational companies and will come back before her wedding. I did miss him a lot, as these years passed, I thought I will move on and my feelings for him will fade away. But to the contrary, it grew stronger. Even if in our slightest arguments Jiho or Do Hyun or Renah badmouthed him I could not bear it. I guess it is not easy to forget or move on from our first love.

Mr. Song was planning Renah's marriage as she finally exposed who her secret boyfriend is. It was the CEO of RD Cosmetics. Also, RD cosmetics wanted a merger with HS Cosmetics as they were a small company compared to Mr. Song's and they wanted to join hands with HS Cosmetics. The wedding was set to be held after Ray's return.

Renah has become the most successful out of the five of us. She was promoted multiple times and became the Managing Director of HS Cosmetics the reason being her leadership and innovation had led HS Cosmetics to become the top cosmetic brand in South Korea making it rank 1.

My dad's company since it was a small one it was not high ranked maybe 13 or 14 it was. But my dad was definitely making profits and he did not worry about ranks at all as he was also planning to let HS Cosmetics acquire HK Cosmetics but maybe sometime later after the marriage of Renah.

Time passed by fast, and Ray came back to South Korea. Renah's wedding was all set to happen. Happiness, excitement, and joy were all over. But somewhere deep there was a clear breakage of the bond between me and Ray, earlier at least he used to shout at me or scold me, but after returning from the USA he does not even talk to me.

The wedding scenario –

Ray: "Dad everything is set. The mic is ready. The host is ready, and he has already started welcoming the guests. The food is also ready. Do Hyun is taking care of photography and video filming. Jiho is helping Renah get ready. Brother-in-law is also ready. I think the congratulatory song si-singer (reads the name on the list 'Hana') is probably ready, I guess. What else? Yes! Guests are seated and all set to witness the beautiful wedding of my ever-glowing sister. Oof this brings tears to my eyes!"

Mr. Song: "Hey my son. I am so proud of you that how amazingly you have managed to get everything set. Got good management skills huh Mr. MBA! anyways I will go and visit your sister and bring her to the stage and you go and find Hana for the congratulatory song."

Ray: "Ok—wait what I am not gonna talk to her send someone else"

Mr. Song: "everyone is busy Raymond. And you just have to go call her you don't have to say anything else"

Ray: (showing an upset face but lowkey happy to go to see Hana) "Ok fine!"

Hana is in the room next to Renah's.

Hana: oof I'm so nervous. Hope I don't mess up my voice and the lyrics. I'm so happy for Renah to have found the love of her life.

Ray enters Hana's room with a cold expression.

Ray: "Uhm- excuse me--- (stops speaking when Hana turns around and he is surprised with her beauty and jaw dropped not being able to say anything and lost in admiring her "omg she is looking so stunning. Is this even Hana! Omg, I wanna go hug her" thinking all this while maintaining the cold expression).

Hana: (turns around and is really happy to see Ray but tries to maintain poker face) Uhm yes?"

Ray: "oh yeah! You have been called to the stage by Dad (tells her and leaves the room)"

Hana: "ok! I'll come. But stop. Really not going to talk? How are you, Ray? How have you been? Did you ever think about me and are you going to ignore me like this till the last breath?"

Ray: (stops after hearing Hana call. Is broken by her words but maintains the cold expression) I don't have time for meaningless talks we have a wedding to conduct please be on time to the stage."

Hana: "but Ray—

Ray: (leaves the room before Hana could speak and rushes to the restroom with tears) "I can't even handle this! Why am I even being like this? She was looking so beautiful. My Hana was talking with care to me. She genuinely wanted to speak! I am such a loser to have lost her. Only if I listened to her during college days without cursing her. But I cannot bring myself to open up to her!"

The Stage –

Renah is marching forward linking arms with her father. She is glowing with beauty more than ever. Do Hyun is busy taking photos of the bride, groom, and everyone present. The host welcomes the bride and the groom, and they both exchange the ring. A happy wedding.

After the exchange of rings, Hana starts singing her congratulatory song. Everyone is lost in the melody of Hana's voice and so is Ray mesmerized by her voice. The song is over, and everyone is set to enjoy the wedding meal. The day ends and everyone returns home. Renah leaves her home with tears and is set to experience the marriage life journey ahead.

We all were sitting at the table at Ray's house. Me, Jiho, Do Hyun, Ray, Mr. Song, and my dad. We were all talking about childhood moments and about Renah. All night we were talking about many things. But we were careful enough to not talk about the blast incident from 7 years ago.
