As I sat here thinking about how I wanted to start this series off, I wanted to first write about something about one of the first things that brought me into the world of writing. Something that taught me that answers in a story, don't always have to have a clear and definitive answer, especially in the world of the macabre. That's when I landed on it, the brain child of Scott Cawthon, Five Nights At Freddy's. Now this game is going to be difficult to write about, considering on all the uncertain lore and endless games. At the time of writing, Security Breach is the latest installment in the latest in the series and leaving a unsure mark on the series on where the story is going. SO, for the sake of this chapter, we are going to act as if that game hasn't released yet. I know that seems cheep to do, but I am not ready to talk about it quite yet. So with that out of the way, lets get into the series.

On August 8th, 2014, the world of horror games were a bit saturated with the same titles with endless fan games of those titles. Games like Slender Man were being made over and over with every ones "twist" on them. No one was ready for a small indie game designer to turn the genre of horror gaming on its head. In more ways than one none the less. Scott Cawthon on this day, will launch his brain child, Five Nights At Freddy's and in the same instance, send the world into a frenzy. Now before we get into the title of discussion, we need to cover a little bit about the creator so you can understand how this could have never happened. Scott Cawthon had made numerous other small indie games that never really caught traction. Some of them were actually not something you can expect like biblically heavy themes. After years of trying and coming up short, he gave it one more shot. That shot would be Five Nights At Freddy's.

You could say that the series ended up as a huge success, with its 8 installments, 7 books and countless fan made versions. The obvious question is this, why did it end up so popular? Well referring to what I said previously, the genre was over saturated with the same kind of games and people were hungry for something different and let me tell you, different doesn't even come close to the truth. Not only was the mechanics something no body had ever seen before, but the lore is as deep as a canyon with no bottom. People to this day are still digging through the games and books pulling any info they can to feed that hunger for the story. Just a reminder on how difficult  it is to have a game that old with a audience of this size, a close second to Minecraft and Halo. Not a easy feat by no stretch of the imagination. The fact that the second game came out a few short months after the first hints that Scott had no clue what his creation was becoming. He knew he had to jump quick and quick he did. Now that we have introduced the game, lets talk about HOW this game made history on a low budget.

Your first look at the game is a menu full of static and low, ominous music with a animatronic bear, obviously being Freddy,  staring right at you. Like he could see through you and into your soul. You decide that it is time to load up the game and after a brief warning, you are met with a small office.  You appear to be in a security office in some establishment and the first thing you notice is you cannot move. You can only look left and right, and in those directions are doors with two buttons. Lights, and open\close. Immediately you're taken aback, with the inability to move you feel trapped already without even knowing the threat you're against. A loud fan and a low buzzing is all you can hear so far, that is until you hear a phone ringing. The phone rings a couple of times before it picks up and you hear the infamous intro line in the series for the first time. "Hello? Hello Hello?".

The mechanics of the game were something that bring people back to play it. Wether you are a casual just trying to BEAT the game or a player looking for that extra challenge. Before we get to far into the mechanics, lets review what you're up against in this madness. There are a total of 5 animatronics in the first Five Nights At Freddy's: Bonnie, Chica, Foxy, Freddy, and Golden Freddy. All of them are specifically unique in their ways of trying to get you like Foxy will run down to the office if you don't watch him enough or to little. On top of animatronics trying to get you, you have to survive this from 12am to 6am  (6 minuets). Now that we have learned the threat, now lets see what you have in your arsenal to survive this onslaught.
