The Trial in Verdant Caverns

On Route 2 and in the cemetery I end up catching Hela the cutiefly and Alcina the zubat before moving towards the cavern where Ilima greets me. I'm told I can't catch anything or leave until the trial is over so I make sure my team is ready before heading in. I walk in to find a cave with a populace of yungoos along with something lurking in the back. Ilima warns me that this " totem Pokémon " is far stronger than anything I've faced so far and that has me a bit worried , but Heelcat and Ferro offer me reassurance.

I make shift work dispatching the first yungoos with Leon whose foul play is really strong this part of the game to be honest. Same happens to the second yungoos that comes right at me. The last yungoos tries to flee so I attempt to think of a way to corner it when Team skull comes running into the caverns attempting to stop me from defeating yungoos, you good there fellas? When I look in this den a gunshoos shows itself, and promptly faints to a foul play from Leon so now it's time to face my first trial. 

I reach towards an odd crystal in the pedestal when a cry rings out behind me, Leon looks nervous. As I grab towards the crystal a much larger Gumshoos makes itself known, this is it , the totem. It's stats are increased by an odd aura as I send in Leon with foul play barely doing anything with the defense increase so next turn I have Leon set up a reflect , next turn attack again but fall into a range I can be taken out so I swap into Ferro for safety. I take out the ally Pokémon as reflect wears off and Ferro is low so I swap over to Heelcat, finishing the battle with 2 fire fangs. With that I clear my first trial and obtain the normalium z , I'm also given permits for a Pokémon catch in the cavern so I decide to take care of that. My new Pokémon ends up being a diglett I name Richter, a ground type always being a nice offensive addition. I run through route 3 currently trying to avoid encounters and make it to Melemele meadow where Nebby has escaped again. Rotom also helps me grind in the meadow where Alcina can get some much needed experience and I also catch an Oricorio I name Jubilee and Heelcat also evolves into Torracat. When I go into the hidden cave I find Nebby and one of the weird space people challenges me to a battle, and I also catch a delibird who shall remain in the box.

I fight Hala which I would comment on more if it weren't just a sweep with Jubilee, so I'm able to head to Akala. Before this I end up catching some new Pokémon like Tiansheng the Mankey, Odd-Eye the Sabeleye, and Darkwing the psyduck. After that I take on a round of mantine surfing which is a fun minigame this game added on that was not in the first sun and moon games. I actually do a few extra rounds for BP that will come in handy later before making my way into Akala Island.
