This was my *I woke up at 3 a.m. Christmas morning and couldn't fall back asleep brain* so it's not the longest but i hope you like it.

No one's POV:

"Mom, are you sure we have all of the stuff? I don't want to be missing any of the ingredients when Biggie comes over." Ashlyn asked her mother - she, of course, wasn't going to be home for Christmas this year.

So before EJ came over to spend the night, Ashlyn naturally wanted to spend some quality time with her boyfriend.

"Ashlyn, honey, yes I'm sure I checked before we left for the airport. Okay the place is boarding but everyone says hi, and I'll text you as soon as I can, okay? Try to be happy darling, I love you." And with that, Ashlyn's mom had hung up.

"Of course. Thanks mom" Ashlyn said out loud to herself. She knew her mom wanted to be here this year, but it never worked out.

"Biggie?" Ashlyn asked as she sped to the door, opening it quickly, her smile faltering slightly when she saw her older cousin standing there instead, "oh, hi EJ."

"Wow, hi to you too cuz." EJ said, laughing as he pulled his suitcase in behind him.

"It's fine I thought you were Biggie." Ashlyn told him, shrugging absentmindedly, shrugging her shoulders.

Ding dong

"That one's probably him." EJ told her laughing as he pointed to the door.

"Thanks," Ashlyn took long strides over to the door as she straightened her sweater and flattened her hair out.

"Hi, cupcake, nice to see- hi E.J.?" Red asked, as far as he knew it was just supposed to be him and Ashlyn.

"Hi Red, are you ready to decorate the cookies?" Ashlyn asked as she pulled him into their kitchen.

"As I'll ever be. I'm a pizza boy, not a cookie decorator though." Red told her, running his hand up and down Ashlyn's back, caressing it lightly.

"I want to help, too! Do you mind?" EJ asked the couple standing on the opposite side of the kitchen.

"No. Of course not, you can always join in." Red told him honestly, backing away slightly at Ashlyn's glare.

"Okay where to start?" EJ asked the two, picking up a bag of bright blue icing.

After 20 mins of icing the cookies with many reindeer, stars, snowmen, and stockings present, EJ and Red were goofing off and having fun while Ashlyn huffed a piece of face out of her hair as she frosted another stocking.

Noticing his girlfriend's mood change, he walked over to the counter next to Ashlyn, "what's wrong. You don't huff unless something is bothering you."

"What? No, of course not. I'm fine, really." Ashlyn told him as she smiled, not wanting to show that she was a little upset. Who wouldn't want their boyfriend to get along with their family?

Red put some icing on his finger, and turned back towards Ashlyn, "well maybe this'll make you feel better."

Without a second going by, Red booped Ashlyn's nose -which was now covered in white icing. "Hey, you two, I need to run to the store we're out of...something." EJ hollered as he ran down the stairs and went out of the door.

"I'm sorry if I did something to upset you. I really didn't mean to." Red told her earnestly, not wanting the two of them to have an argument.

"Oh, honey, it wasn't you. It's me. I was just looking forward to spending time with you, and then EJ came early." Ashlyn told him, going to grab his hands, "I didn't want to exactly make cookies and kiss my boyfriend with my cousin staring at us."

"Yeah, I get that. Good thing he's not here now then." Red said quickly before he wrapped his arms around Ashlyn's waist and his lips met hers.

"Red? How much icing did you sample, I can taste it." Ashlyn asked, pulling away with a giggle, watching as his face scrunched up in embarrassment.

"Not...that much. It was only a little, you did too. You were caught red headed trying to lick your fingers earlier if I recall." He teased twirling Ashlyn's hair in his finger.

"Whoops" Ashlyn said as she glanced up at him.

"You know what's weird?" Ashlyn asked, this was a topic she thought about quite often -especially since she got a boyfriend, whom she fell in love with.

"What?" Red asked her, curious about her current state of mind.

"In like 10 years from now, we could be doing this with our kids." Ashlyn told him, before noticing her mistake, "not necessarily our kids, but if any of us have kids, they would be decorating cookies as a family. It's just kind of weird." Ashlyn said, shrugging. To be honest, the thought of any of her friends having kids seemed scary.

And not that she ever thought of her and Red having kids - a family of their own -, a hamster, and a dog, and a cute small house, close enough to Slices, but also not necessarily in the middle of Salt Lake City. Ashlyn totally didn't daydream over their wedding either. Nope. She didn't think of their future one bit.

"Yeah. That is weird, and hey, I've thought about our future too. Unless you actually haven't, then ignore me." Red told her laughing, at his honest mistake.

"No, I'll be honest. I have thought of our future. It's just scary." Ashlyn told him and she continued playing with Red's hair at the base of his neck.

"Hey, I love you. I'll awlwatsbe here. " Red told her, giving her one more quick kiss on her lips.

"Not as much as I love you."Ashlyn answered, leaning her head on his chest as they slowly swayed with "Winter Wonderland" playing in the background.

"Merry Christmas, my Angel." Red told her as he leaned his head on top of hers.
