Alrighty. So after careful consideration I have decided to start posting the sequel. Now, I do not promise consistent uploads since there isn't a lot written of it yet. I do however feel like I'll be more motivated to keep going once it's out there and being uploaded and I'm getting your feedback.

With that said, enjoy the second part to LMT, also known as 'I can't wait until the show airs again so I need this as a substitute'.

Love you lots!

KAI

You'd think Amelia would be used to cutting into people's brains by now. But she's been on edge for two days already and now that the surgery is a mere four hours away, she's close to exploding. Our research has led us to now implement the same approach on other neurodegenerative diseases and so today Amelia is cutting into an Alzheimer's patient's brain.

This is especially important because of Meredith so I'm not surprised that Amelia is up at the crack of dawn, going over some paperwork for the last time. I've tried to stay out of her way, allowing her some space to prepare, and instead took Fiddle and Scout on a walk.

It's a little later in the day now and I know we're about to get going so I'm getting some snacks packed for Scout since he'll be going to daycare while Amelia is in surgery and I'm in the lab.

I shuffle around the kitchen, stopping when Scout appears in front of me, his short arms reaching up as high as he can, asking to be picked up. I smile at the sight and hoist him onto my hip, wincing slightly when he goes straight for my earrings.

"We're gonna have to get your ears pierced so you can play with those," I smirk at him, tickling him behind his ear which causes him to giggle adorably.

"Uh, no, we are not," Amelia walks in, obviously having heard us. "Bodily autonomy, Kai. He can't consent to having piercings at the age of two," she keeps arguing, causing me to chuckle lightly.

"Okay, I'll continue suffering then," I say, pulling a funny face at Scout, which just keeps him laughing. He really is the happiest little guy. And I was obviously joking about the earrings, but well.. Amelia can be slow to pick up on hints like that when she's stressed. And she certainly is right now.

"Or you can just tell him to stop," Amelia raises an eyebrow, stopping from shuffling around for a minute. I don't even know what she's looking for, but she's gone through two drawers already and my guess is that the other two aren't going to give results either.

"I could," I nod, taking a closer look at the things already on the counter. Keys and wallet and phone are there.. The only thing missing is her access card for the hospital entrance. "But I can't handle his adorable sad pout," I finish my thought then.

"Sad.." Scout repeats quietly, poking at my cheek with his finger. I puff up my cheeks, releasing the air as he pokes some more.

"No, I'm not sad," I reassure him, smiling widely to prove it. That seems to do the trick because he's all smiley again too. I walk over to the front door and am not surprised to find Amelia's card on the small entry table next to it.

"You're such a softie," Amelia shakes her head, still rummaging through the final drawer, her movements more irritated now. We're not even running late, but I'm not going to remind her of that either. Living together full-time has been a learning curve and one thing that was made clear quickly is not to make comments like that when she's stressed.
