I pretended I was sleeping. Once I heard the light flick off in both the room and halls I slowly turned over to face his bed. He's facing the wall so I can probably sit up. I slide up and everything seems much more unsettling. I cover my face as everything around me feels like it's spinning. I don't even feel sleepy so how can I go to sleep? I can't wander the halls at this time unless I have a mask of matureness. My thoughts are broken up with the feeling of tears rolling down my face. Why am I crying? I hear knocking. I turn to the door and move over to see if anyone's at it. No one.

I hear the knock again from behind me. I slowly turn my head over to the sound. Nothing. I shiver runs down my spine. What could it be? I get up on my feet as I hear more knocks. I realized it was coming from the wall. I put my ear up against the wall. It stops. My eyes look around the room as I wait for something else to happen. Like a demon coming up out of nowhere. I kept sitting there but then I heard a little sound. I brought my focus back to the wall. The silence turns into knocking, the knocking turns into banging. I push off the wall and fall onto the floor. The banging continued. I looked at Jack and he was still sleeping. How could he not hear any of this?

The banging from the wall finally stops and the door from behind me opens. The door creaks and I turn over to see who was there. David peeks his head in and looks down over to me. "Hey- are you okay?" I stand up shakily and walk over to him. "Are you okay?" He questions once again. I ignore him and just stuff my face into his chest slowly wrapping my arms around him. He hugs me back and rubs my back gently to soothe me. I shake more as I try to keep my breathing normal. What was going on? What lives in the wall?

This place isn't normal. "Do-..do you ever hear knocks?" I could feel an intense stare once I said that. "I always heard them in our old manor but ever since we moved here I was told to ignore that kind of thing. Why? David says. I look around the room wondering if I should tell him. I decide to spit it out. "I may have heard some knocking" There's silence. "Don't worry about it. It may just be your mind since you are not used to this place." He lets go of the hug.

"Will you be fine now?" He asks. I nod hesitantly not quite sure. He turns around and walks towards the door. Before closing the door he peeks his head in again and says goodnight while waving. I wave back and the door shuts leaving me in the dark once again. I sit down on the little made bed on the ground and bury my head into my hands while I curl up into a ball.

Family doesn't keep secrets.
