"Hey, are you coming to the meeting?" Tony called out, watching as Bucky left the locker room.

"Meeting?" Bucky asked. Had he forgotten something? You usually reminded him of when the two of you had to go to team meetings. But, you were gone on a mission, scheduled to be back this afternoon. Ever since Nat had been taken by Hydra, everyone was working overtime to ensure her safe return. You were part of the team in charge of scouting potential places where Hydra could be keeping Nat. And, while you'd been gone, Bucky had been struggling to keep his head on straight. Without you, it was like he could barely even think, much less remember a meeting. "What meeting? What's it about?"

"Not sure what it's about. It's just been called. Thor said that Wanda said that Steve said that Sharon said—you know, it's complicated how the information got passed along. But apparently it's a big thing. Has to do with Romanoff's kidnapping."

"Oh. If that's the case, should I call Y/N, have her listen in?"

"About that..." Tony looked almost like he didn't want to say, which was...interesting, since Tony always wanted to say something. "I think it's best that she's not there. It's about her."

"But you said it was about Nat."

"It is."

"But how can...Oh. Oh, no. No, that can't be. Whatever you think, whatever the team is thinking, it can't be right."

"We haven't even seen the evidence yet. We should at least hear Sharon out before we jump to conclusions."

If they were thinking that you had something to do with Nat's kidnapping, it had to be wrong. Right? You'd been loyal to the team. You'd been loyal to Nat. You didn't have a bad bone in your body. Unless...Unless maybe it was all a front. Could it be a front? Had you been lying to them all along? Was that really a possibility?

Well, there was only one way to find out.

"Lead the way."

"And that's why we had the meeting without Y/N," Bucky explained

"And that's why we had the meeting without Y/N," Bucky explained.

"And you are an imbecile," Yelena said.

Bucky wanted to push back, to come back with his own quip. But, he knew that she was right. He just hated to be faced with the truth. To know that you had trusted him, that you had loved him, and he failed you. He took everything you gave him, and he threw it back in your face. And for what? To put you through the very same torture he had gone through? The same torture that left him a shell of a man? He was an imbecile, an idiot, a moron—Yelena could call him any name in the book, any name in any language, and she would be right.

So, instead, he said, "Calling me names won't bring her back. I thought you were here to help."

"Cheap shot from the man who sold out the supposed love of his life."
