"Amma(Mom) , what is the meaning of marriage " , An younger version of me asked my mother
"Why are you asking Abhi " , My Amma got surprised with my question
"I wanted to know Amma , because I'm a married man now" , I told in my innocent voice
"Come here" , she said and made me sit in her lap and started explaining about marriage and the role of a married man while soothing my hair.
"Marriage is not a simple word Abhi. It's a beautiful sacred bond which brings two hearts and souls together for eternity. So that they together can pursue happiness , sadness , wealth and prosperity.
The two people who involved in the marriage should have good understanding , trust and care for each other.
It's not always the wife's responsibility to take care of her husband and to make sure everything is as per his liking.
Husband should also be equally involved in understanding his wife , give her much needed support , helps her full fill all her dreams , provides her a shoulder to lean on when she has no one to look up for, cares for her , always make sure she is safe wherever she goes , provides her everything she deserves. More than anything he should give her unconditional love by fulfilling all her demands. " , my mom explained"A man should be emotionally mature enough to handle a challenging situation without reacting to it impulsively.
Appreciation is an important factor while creating a happy relationship. Appreciate the good in other person at the same time accept their shortcomings , because no one is perfect.
A man who shares his thoughts and feelings with her without reservation; a man who talks things out with her; a man who discuss difficult subjects with her and can disagree yet still come to some kind of resolution is a man who has healthy communication skills and will make a great husband.
Relationships always require a commitment and constant efforts.
You shouldn't neglect your woman.
You should always prioritise her before everything.
You should be there for her even it is inconvenient and uncomfortable for you.
Always consider her perspective before taking any decision , sometimes it would be small and sometimes it would be big."Her explanation caused my face to be confused, so she laughed at my reaction.
"You have a long way to go, Abhi. You should learn everything in your own time with no rush. But remember one thing, honesty and trust are the basis of any relationship. You have to ensure that both of you are honest with each other and that you trust each other. As my son, I want you to provide her with unconditional love." I nodded my head in a supportive manner.
After listening to my mom's words, I promised myself that I would become a mature man who would be able to take care of her, work hard to make sure she achieves all her goals and enable her to have all the happiness life has to offer. To guard her against all the evil of this world, I intend to become stronger than ever.
Sameday Evening , Sunset at Godavarai River:
" It's so beautiful, Bava, look at the sun setting. How amazing it is. Bava.." , Ranvi said to me, causing me to come out of my thoughts. I was so distracted by thinking about my mom's comments that I didn't hear her.
"Yes Ranvi, you are saying something...?" I asked her. "Nothing, Bava. I was merely asking what your thoughts are about the beautiful sunset there before us.?", She is looking at me curiously as she waits for my response.
"In my experience, Sunsets emphasize the beauty of the end of every day, no matter what your day was like. We, too, will be in the same boat. No matter how hard we study for exams, in the end, we will remember only our marks and will forget everything else.. ", I said while winking at her.
Ranvi , snarling dramatically, "Look who's speaking. The one who gets first in class every year.".
She questioned me while touching her right cheek with the tip of her forefinger of her right hand . "I have never seen you study at home whenever I come here and I always see Maya with books. How come you always get first in school and she gets least marks? "
Since I didn't want to lie to her, I signaled her towards me and told her to turn the other way so I could get access to her ear. She did the same and I whispered into her ear. "I make her think that I am not reading and once she goes to bed, I study until the morning.."
Ranvi widened her eyes and tried to look amused as she said, "That's so cunning Bava.".
In our hometown, this is the best place to hang out for all age groups. We have so many memories here that we cherish. There are plenty of people who come here, sit on benches overlooking the river and enjoy the evenings.
There are people who comes to learn yoga , to chant Vedas and practice dance .It's the favourite hangout place for all age groups.
An Aarti is performed every evening at about 6.45 pm, chanting mantras and explaining the benefits of attending each Aarti (there is an Aarti for each mantra).
As I was returning to our car after one of the most beautiful evenings to cherish in my memory , I saw a person selling The balloon is in the shape of a heart, has about one foot height, and is attached to a bamboo stick.
What caught my attention was the words that appeared on the front and back of the balloon. I LOVE YOU, and ONLY FOR YOU. I was compelled to gift it to Ranvi.
I wanted to give it to Ranvi as a gift and let her know that I will always love her.
My trip to get the balloon was a success. As I was about to return to the car, Ranvi asked "Maya, have you found it yet?"?
"We will definitely find it. You search over there whereas I search over here. ", seems like Ranvi lost something. Even I started looking for it.
Within ten minutes of searching off I heard Maya saying "Annayya(Bro)! What are you looking for?" Correct, I was looking for something else. I know Ranvi lost something, but I was not sure what she lost. I would have at least asked her before starting the search mission. Now I knew this devil sister of mine was going to play games.
"I lost my hand..kerchief.. yes, I did lose my handkerchief",I somehow managed to say.
"Is that a handkerchief then? " With that being said, she has kept her hand in the pocket of my kurta and taken out my handkerchief.
"I thought I had lost it. Thanks chellemma (sister)" , with that being said I was about to leaves.
"Annayya (brother) , I know you love Ranvi and I will cheer you up always. Coming back to what we are searching for, Ranvi saw a five year old girl crying as she lost her puppy here. So we started searching for it and Ranvi found it already.", I hugged my cute little sister while she showered me with so much love.
I kissed on her forehead and replied, "Thank you so much sister for understanding me so well.".
After a while, she changed tone and said, "Enough of this affection. Give me 20 rupees now"
"Why should I ?" , I questioned her
"Because I gave you the information on your Ranvi,' she winked at me and, after looking at me when my attention was lost in the word YOUR RANVI, she took money out of my pocket and walked away.
