You are the faint line between faith and blindly waiting

-Rupi Kaur

School. I hadn't been to a high school since I was fourteen. I started training at the avengers compound then so I never had time to spend hours at a school learning things I had already known so Tony hired an at-home teacher and had me train with them. That also explains why the only friend I ever had was Peter, who for some reason wasn't forced to withdraw from school to train. I just wish I spent more time with him.

I feel a large object hit me in my head as I sit up from the bed. Aunt May let me stay in their guest room. Peter threw a pillow at me."Get up, we have to go to school, and you need to get dressed." I roll over on the bed. "I don't have any clothes and I'm not wearing your musty ass hoodie again." He peels the blanket off of me, revealing a singe of cold air on the lower half of my body. "You're lucky Aunt May is even letting you stay here and borrow her clothes. Now get up before we're late for chemistry."I sit up on the couch and place my feet on the ground and head to Aunt May's closet. I pick out some simple clothes and head towards Peter.

"Now listen, if anyone asks Aunt May is letting you stay with us cause your her friend's kid. You cannot let anyone who you actually are or else we are both actually screwed. Oh, and no guns. You're a normal kid now, so you have got to be acting normal." He says, as he opens the door and starts heading towards the metro station. "Why do I need to go with you? Why can't I just stay home all day?" I groan, following behind him. "Because I need to keep an eye on you and I can't miss school so you're coming with me. Hence your entire schedule is the same as mine." He gets on the subway and waits with you to get to the high school. The rest of the subway ride is silent except for a bit of small talk here and there.

"Welcome to Midtown high, Y/n," Peter says, as he walks towards the entrance toward the school. I follow him down the halls, people hitting my shoulders as they charge through the halls. He shows me my schedule and tours me around the school before class starts. "So that should be it, so please try to be friendly and not threaten anyone today. But anyways I-" Peter is cut-off by another boy hitting his shoulder and yelling at him. "Penis Parker! Who's the new girl?" The boy had a buzz cut and seemed fairly athletic. He places his arm around his neck but Peter is obviously uncomfortable by the gesture. He reaches his hand out to me. "Flash Thompson, Star athlete and also the man of your dreams." His smirk spreads across his face as he speaks. It's nauseating. I shake his hand out of politeness but I wasn't interested in being friends with this guy at all. "Y/n L/n. I'm new today, nice to meet you." I state, a faked smile on my face. He leans on the locker in front of me, completely blocking my view of Peter. "You should come to my game this Friday. You know, being new and all you would want to show school spirit." He says, rambling on and completely ignoring Peter. Just when I'm about to answer the bell rings, saving me from this dreadful conversation.

I quickly peel away and head to my first period, chemistry. Peter quickly follows behind. "Did you have fun back there?" He says, a hint of sarcasm. "Ah yes, being bombarded by a neanderthal who smells like B.O and pond water is so enticing. Especially when it flirts with you and you're left on your own." I say, a sarcastic smile hinting at my lips. He laughs at the name-calling comments. "Yeah, Flash is a bit of a dick so.." He says, quietly as he enters the classroom door to our homeroom. We both walked to a table towards the back of the class and sit down to wait for the teacher to arrive at class.
