"So we need to talk?" I said looking at him.He moved uncomfortably on the couch. I stared at him raising my eyebrows at the awkward silence. I couldn't take it anymore.

"Derek why are you here?" putting my hand on my knees. "Are you in trouble? Do you need money?"

"Lizzy no." his voice soft but stern. I looked at him he had called me Lizzy. Oh how I hated that name Max gave me that nickname. When I first heard Max say that I had just gotten home from school and walked into the room and found him with some other chick. Oh! How furious I was! He kept calling me Lizzy and baby. I hated that. So now being in the situation where his younger brother is calling me that got on my last nerves.

"Don't Call Me That" I said biting my tongue."Why are you here?" I raised my voice, shocking him.

"Max."

"What about him?"

"DEAD!" He started to cry I had seen only a few grown men cry and he was one of the few that it broke my heart to see cry.I went over to him and gave him a hug. I knew it had only been a few months since his brothers death and that he was still in shock. I knew that deep down in side I hated Max for everything he did to me.But sitting here with Max's brother made me realize that one point in Derek's life Max had been an amazing big brother. There for him when he needed him.

"Derek I'm so sorry I know he loved you so much." I said still hugging him.He let go of the hug.Tears running down his face he looked at me.

"I'm so sorry for how he treated you. I could have stopped him." he looked at me tears starting to form know my own eyes.

"Derek it's not your fault I should had taken a stand." I said trying hard to hold back all the tears that I had.He turned to me. And just stared at me, knowing his eyes locked on to me i started to feel uncomfortable.

"Why are you starring at me?" i took my sleeve of my sweatshirt an wiped my tears away. His eyes still glued to me it started to get weird.

"Liz remember that time when i came over because i hadn't heard from him in for a bout a week and i ran inside because i heard you screaming ?" Derek moved closer towards me. I didn't remember much anymore from what happened with Max. But this i did remember......

__________________________

I was 17 years old and thought to be with the guy I thought was the love of my life. Max was the Usually Baseball player type (well at my school he was) he was 6'2 250 pounds and very muscular. Max was the type of boy that you saw and you feel in love with,he was everything a girl could ever want. During the summer of our first year out of high school max had told me he was thinking about going into the military. Which to tell you the truth would not have surprised me because basically his whole family was in the military.

Max had came home one night after a couple of weeks from a army boot camp he wasn't acting himself. He sacred me when he acted this way he kept pacing and making this sound with his tongue, OH how it annoyed me. But then when one day i couldn't take it anymore I finally told him I wanted to go home, he went nuts-beating me, hiding my clothes and contacts, and messing up my car so I couldn't drive it. He wouldn't let me use the phone or the computer to get in contact with my family.

Weeks and weeks of this went on and it made me go crazy. One day he had came home i hadn't seen him in about 2 days he came through the door quiet .I was in the living room and he just went into the kitchen and got a beer. It made me curl up my legs to my chest.

I didn't know what was going to happen. I remember him walking into the living room and telling me it was time to go. I didn't know what he meant by that. He sat next to me and reached over towards me and gave me a hug. I was taken back alittle. He whispered in my ear "Sorry" Nothing made sense in till he picked me up and threw me across the room.
