I'm pretty sure Demi & I were thinking the same thing. Lyric didn't want to be our daughter. It was too hard for her & she didn't want the craziness that was in our lives. A part of me couldn't blame her, really. She was a little girl who just wanted a normal life & a normal family. Demi & I really could not give her normal, even if we gave up our careers. We would still be celebrities.

It seemed like forever that Demi held Lyric close to her chest as they both cried. Finally, Lyric's tears flowed a little slower & she caught her breath. She pulled away from Demi & looked at her, then at me. "I can't break Kris & Zac's hearts. I want you guys to adopt me, but I feel like I should stay with Kris & Zac because it would hurt them if I picked you guys."

Demi & I looked at each other, our eyes wide with surprise & our mouths hanging open in shock. Lyric wanted us. She wanted me & Demi to be her parents. Demi started gasping from laughing & crying at the same time. "Lyric... listen. If you want us to adopt you, Kris & Zac will be happy because the only thing they care about is your happiness."

"Not to mention the fact that they will stay in your life forever. They will be like an aunt & an uncle & their baby will be like your cousin." I added, trying to control my giddy laughter.

"Really? So I don't have to upset them? They'll be happy because I'm happy?" Lyric asked, wiping her tears.

Demi nodded, smiling down at Lyric. "We are so happy you want us to be your parents for real. There is nothing in the world that we want more." Demi said, her voice cracking.

"So you want to adopt me?" Lyric asked, her eyes wide with wonder.

Demi laughed & hugged her again. "Oh my God. Yes. More than anything. We've wanted to for a while. It's the reason we rushed getting married."

"Really? You got married so fast because of me?"

Demi nodded. "We would have gotten married eventually, but it just would have taken longer."

Lyric nodded, then her face lit up with excitement. "Can you guys take me to your house? I really miss Buddy." Lyric smiled, standing up.

"Yea. We should let Kris & Zac know that you're okay though." I said, glancing at Demi, who pulled out her phone to let me know she was already on it.

I helped Lyric get her things together, while Demi called Kris, then we all got in our car & headed home. I couldn't wipe the smile off my face if I tried & neither could Demi. When we got home, I turned the car off & turned to say something to Lyric, but stopped. She was sound asleep, in the back seat, her favorite blanket wrapped around her shoulders like a cape.

"Do you think you can carry her inside or should I wake her?" Demi asked in a whisper.

I scowled at her. "I can bench ten times her weight. I think I can manage carrying her in." I clicked my tongue & Demi chuckled.

"So sorry Mr. Tough Guy." Demi mumbled as we both got out of the car. I shot her a dirty look over the top of the car & she grinned at me with all of her teeth showing.

I got Lyric out of the car, with Demi's help & held her in my arms as her head was against my chest. I carried her inside, while Demi held doors open for me. I made my way to Lyric's bedroom & laid her on the bed. Demi took off her shoes, then her jeans & slipped her bottom half under the blankets. Demi bent down & kissed her cheek, then ran her hand over her forehead as she stared down at her, a soft smile on her face. I could see her eyes shiny with new tears, so I put my arm around her.
