unknown paths (chapter 9)

After I calmed down a bit we decided it was best to turn around and try to go the way we came from. We walked for a while in silence till max started asking questions. I was still mad at him so I just ignored him and kept walking. Soon we got to two path ways. "We didn't come through a path" max said. I didn't k ow where to go so I told him we had to pick one and just hope for the best. The paths looked very different from each other. One was dark and gloomy, it had fog and strange animal noises. The other path was much brighter with prettier plants. We of course chose the brighter path because who knows what could be lurking in the darkness of this misterious yet interesting world. I knew I didnt know much about this world so I tried to make smart choices and stay safe, but who knew what was smart from stupid here. I knew we were gonna be here for a while and it was getting late. We needed to find someone safe we could sleep for the night. We also needed food and water. We walked for 30 more minutes till we came to a river. Max ran to it and started drinking the water while I shouted at him " you don't know if that water is safe" I said but he didn't listen and kept drinking. " You see those rocks" he said. " The water is seeping through the cracks in it it's a natural filter" max said. Maybe he wasn't that bad and he knew what he was doing I was so thirsty I eventually gave in and drank the water with him, it was so refreshing and I was so happy. There was a cave right by the river and that's where we decided to sleep for the rest of the cold night.
