I rolled over in bed and met the sleeping giant that was my husband. It's been two weeks since we got here and it finally feels like I can breathe. We can breathe. Grey lets me go outside now, so I am using that opportunity to take care of the garden in the backyard. Speaking of which, this house is huge! It has a library, theater, art room, gym, and arcade. Not to mention the hundreds of bedrooms that line the halls. He had everything made to my liking, but that wasn't what I needed.
Looking at Grey's peaceful face as he slept was enough to keep me happy. I reached forward to caress his cheek when a sudden wave of nausea came over me. I ran to the restroom and emptied my insides into the toilet. This must've woken up Grey because not a second later he was there to hold my hair out of the way as I continued to throw up. Once I finished, he held me against him as I clutched my stomach and took deep breaths. "Are you ok? What happened? Is something wrong?" He asked all in one go.
"I'm fine." I dismissed.
"You are not fine! I'm calling a doctor." He said, but I shut him down.
"No, Grey. Seriously, I'm fine. I-It's probably something I ate last night," I tied my hair into a ponytail and got up to brush my teeth when I felt an arm coil around my waist from behind.
"You know you can tell me anything right?" He asked while rubbing up and down my side.
"Really, I'm ok. Maybe I'll feel better after breakfast." I smiled but on the inside, I was freaking out. Last week, I was expecting my period, but it never came and now I'm throwing up. Grey stared at me for a little while longer before briskly walking away. After I finished brushing my teeth, I slowly walked to the bed and sat on top of it. My hand subconsciously fell to my stomach and massaged the area gently. I think... I'm pregnant.
What am I going to do?
~
Grey brought my food and watched me like a hawk. Trying to detect any unusual behaviors. While I, was battling the food that was in my stomach. As soon as he left I went straight to the toilet and threw up again. This kept happening every time I attempted to eat something and by the end of the day, I was exhausted.
"Are you sure you're alright?" He asked again for the fifteenth time today.
"Yes." I smiled and settled onto his bare chest. He kissed my forehead and eventually fell asleep, but my mind was restless.
I suddenly remembered the endless nights of love making we had under the moonlight. How he held my body. How he made me feel cherished. Those were some of the best moments of my life, but now it was time to face the consequences.
I slipped out Grey's arms, put on a simple outfit, took some money from his wallet, and headed down the stairs. I needed to buy a pregnancy test. I opened the front door but immediately stopped when one of his guards stepped in front of me. "Does the prince know you're up this late?" His eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
"I need someone to take me to the store," I tried to sound as authoritative as I could, but that obviously didn't work. He didn't move and raised an eyebrow. "Please, it's important." I begged. He contemplated with himself for a while before finally speaking.
"And if he finds out?" He asked.
"He won't," I reassured. He nodded and offered me his hand, which I gladly took, and led me to a black SUV. "Thank you so much," I smiled when he opened the back door for me. He stayed quiet and walked around the car to sit in the driver's seat. An awkward silence fell upon the car as he started driving. I tried to talk to the guard a little to calm my thoughts, but he didn't want to answer any questions. So, I kept to myself and waited for us to arrive. Once we did, he opened the door for me and escorted me into the store. "You don't have to come with me you know. Stay in the car." I offered.
"His Majesty wouldn't be pleased to know that I let you out of my sight. Especially when you weren't supposed to be here in the first place," He retorted and I rolled my eyes. I walked into the store and found the pregnancy tests all the way in the back. In the corner of my eye, I saw the guard's eyes widen a little. "You're pregnant?" He whispered.
"This is why I said you should stay in the car." I said as I looked at the different brands. I eventually chose one and walked past him to the counter to pay. The cashier was an older woman with salt and peppered hair. She was restocking something behind her desk when I cleared my throat to get her attention.
"Princess Mariella," She breathed in a daze.
"Yes, I wanted to pay for this." I said politely to recapture her attention. She snapped out of it and pushed the box back to me.
"Don't worry about it. It's on the house." She smiled. It was almost like she was begging me to leave.
"No, it's fine. I can pay." I pulled out the money from my pocket and handed it to her.
"Thank you for your kindness, princess, but you really don't have to. I am more than happy to give it to you for free." I nodded my head with a smile and left the small store. The guard again opened the door for me, but before he could I had to ask him a question.
"What's your name anyway?"
He closed the door behind me and got into the driver's seat chuckling lowly. "Mathius." He simply replied and a small smile stretched on my face. He might not have wanted to admit it, but I think I made a new friend in him. As we drove home, my heart was jumping out of my chest. Too many things were happening and it was truly overwhelming. I guess Mathius could feel my unease because he started to comfort me. "Relax, you told me you love him right? And he loves you too. Whatever happens, I'm sure he'll be there to support you." He said and although it was a huge help, it wasn't Grey I was worried about. I don't even know if I will be a good parent. All I want is for the child to be safe and happy. How the hell am I supposed to provide that when I am a fugitive on a foreign island?
The car came to a stop and my mind went to Grey. This involves him too, but I can't help keeping it a secret. I don't want to tell him anything until I know for sure.
Mathius opened the door for me and walked me to the house. "Be safe, princess." He whispered and I nodded my head. I slowly tipped toed up the stairs and went straight for our bathroom. Luckily, Grey was still sleeping and hugging a pillow instead of me. I locked the bathroom door behind me and followed the instructions on the box of the test. Now, all I had to do was wait.
After twenty minutes, I finally mustered up the courage to read the results. I gently held the two sticks that I took in my hands and they both had two red lines running down the middle.
I'm pregnant.
Greyson and I are having a child.
