It’s been three months now. So far Alina hasn’t bothered me, so that’s a good thing. Melody and I went on a couple more dates since the movies. But somehow, we still can’t open up to each other.
My father contacted us. He sent my mom some divorce papers and told her that he was pretty much tired of her.
The cold wakes me up. It’s winter and I hate going to school even more. As usual, Yuko is waiting for me outside.
“Ugh,” I manage to say.
“Come on Michael,” she says cheerfully, “cheer up!”
“No,” I say dryly.
“It’s winter!” she says as she twirls around while we walk to the bus stop. “We can finally play in the snow!”
“I hate winter. There’s snow and ice everywhere and I can’t do parkour anymore.”
“Come on. There’s more to life than just parkour.”
“Parkour is love. Parkour is life!”
The bus finally arrives and we get on.
“Speaking of love...”
“What?”
“How’s it going with you-know-who?”
“What do you mean?”
“Come on! What progress have you made?”
“Um...”
“Nothing? At all?”
“Not really. We both still feel a little awkward around each other.”
“But you guys have already gone in a bunch of dates.”
“It’s like we’re both interested in each other but we just can’t break this one barrier.”
“Wow, talk about bad luck.”
“Yeah, thanks.”
We get to school and instead of meeting the rest at our usual meeting spot, we all meet in the cafeteria since it’s too cold to hang outside.
Sho tells us that Alejandro isn’t here today because he’s sick.
“Just in time for midyear exams,” Hiroshi says.
“Ugh,” says Midori, “don’t mention exams. Just thinking about it makes me even more bored.”
“I actually like it when we have exams,” says Jessica.
“Easy for you to say,” Edward says, “you’re in the student council.”
“What is that supposed to mean?” Jessica asks.
“Come on,” says Aiko, “you know you have good grades.”
“Anybody can have good grades,” Jessica replies.
