Lexi's mind was focused, zoned in on the floating knife in front of her. She was attempting to build up the endurance of her powers, realising that, although her hand-to-hand combat was good, she preferred using her powers as they gave her an advantage against her opponents. And if she wanted to use her powers as often as she would like, that meant she had to practice more.

So, she sat in her bedroom, her eyes shut as she closed her mind off to focus on only the knife, keeping it in the air for as long as she possibly could before the exhaustion hit, when she would wait fifteen minutes, and then try again. As she sat today however, the knife wouldn't stay up for as long as it had been the previous days.

"Fuck!" she yelled as the knife dropped once more, picking it up and throwing it in frustration, the sharp blade sticking into the wall along with the three she had thrown earlier. Lexi threw her head back as she collapsed on her back on the floor of her bedroom.

"Language," Natasha smirked from the doorway, Lexi peering up at her with a bored expression before returning her gaze to the roof. "How are you?"

"I'm fine," the brunette replied bluntly, dislodging the knives once more as they floated in a circle above her. Natasha ran forward, snatching the knives out of the air and slamming them down on the desk.

"You're not fine," the redhead stated as she sat down beside Lexi, resting her back against the bed. "Your dad just called you a slut, no one would be fine after that."

"Yeah, well, I am fine, Romanoff, okay? So, just leave me alone," Lexi retorted in a huff as she pushed herself up from the floor.

Natasha grabbed her arm before she could leave, turning the brunette around to face her, "Don't do that."

"Do what, Romanoff?"

"Push me away. We're supposed to trust each other, remember?"

"So, trust me when I tell you... I'm fine," Lexi replied, snatching her arm from Natasha's grasp as she stood from the floor.

"Hey, we're needed-" Maria's sentence stopped short as Lexi stormed past her out of the room. Maria frowned as she looked to Natasha who was still sat on the floor, a deflated look on her face as she looked longingly at the doorway she last seen Lexi. "Is she okay?"

"She won't talk to me," Natasha sighed as she flopped her head back onto the bed. "God, it was so much easier to get stuff out of her when she was a teenager and you were practically a stranger. Sometimes I wish it was still like that."

"If there's one thing I've learnt about Lexi, it's that she doesn't open up easily," Maria said. "I mean, I've had to pin her down before just to get her to tell me that her and Pepper had a fight and that's why she was being moody. I suggest you do the same."

"You want me to pin my girlfr- Lexi..." Natasha stopped herself while a smirk appeared on Maria's face at her slip up, "down to the ground just to get her to tell me what she's feeling?"
