"Thanks for the ride." Indigo said as she got out of the El Camino. "Anytime Blue." Pink smiled, they all viewed her like she was their own sibling.

The girl made her way towards the dugout. "Hey guys." All eyes landed on Indigo. They were shocked to see a girl in their dugout. "Hey Indigo." Mitch grinned. "You made it."

"I don't break promises." She told them. "So bad news.." She started. "Are they here?" Carl panicked glancing around the gate.

She shook her head. "Party's cancelled." The boys frowned, they were excited to go. "What happened?" Mitch asked. "Keg guy came while my parents were still home."

"That sucks." She nodded, pulling a cigarette from her purse. "But we can hang out another time." She said blowing out smoke.

They all watched the girl in awe. "Well thanks for coming to the game still." Mitch told her. "Anytime, plus I can try to save your ass if the boys come here." She said.

"Why thank you for the protection Indigo." Mitch joked making the girl laugh. "No smoking in the dugout." Their coach snapped walking over.

Indigo rolled her eyes standing up. "Good luck guys." She gave Mitch a kiss on the cheek before heading out to the stands.

The boy blushed deeply watching her walk away. "Damn, Kramer's got some game." Carl joked as they started towards the field. "Oh shut up."

Indigo moved to the fence towards the end of the game. "Hey, batter, batter, swing." Benny called out.

"Can you guys leave him alone?" Indigo looked at them. "Why, got a crush on Kramer?" Don teased. Her eyes went wide. "No this hazing shit is just stupid." She answered, flustered.

Mitch pitched the ball, getting the second strike when Tommy called time.

"You better get this kid out or we're really gonna beat your ass." O'bannion yelled. "Kramer quit stalling, let's go." Mitch glanced at them.

"Hope you got more than a jock strap under there, you little rat!" Indigo wanted to be mad but she couldn't help but laugh.

"Because you're not gonna be able to sit for the summer, don't let it affect your concentration." Indigo smacked Don's arm. "Mitch ignore them, you got this." She called with a smile.

Mitch smiled back at the girl, turning to pitch. The game ended on the third strike. He wanted be happy with Indigo watched him win but he was to nervous about the guys.

As they finished lining up with the other team Indigo ran down to Mitch. "I can try to get them to sop." She offered. He shrugged. "They're gonna get me sooner or later."

"Well, your friends suck either way." She said, watching the pair run to their cars. "Tell me about it." He mumbled.

They neared the back fence at the same time the boys did. Mitch held up his arms, letting the boys drag him off to the back lot. Indigo wanted to stop them but she knew she couldn't do much, so she followed after them, very slowly.

By the time she caught up it seemed like it was almost over. "What's goin' on here?" Everyone turned at the voice of Pink.

"Oh Pink, you missed it." O'bannion cheered as he walked away. "Where you headed off to know?" Pink asked them. "The Point, gonna join us?" Benny answered.

"Yeah see you there." Pink waved. Benny handed Mitch back his hat, "You gotta sign my paddle later."

O'bannion came running back to the group. "I gotta get seconds on him." But he was shoved away. "You next Pink?" Mel asked handing him a paddle. "Sure."

"You already got him." Pink told O'bannion. The boy huffed but backed away.  "I'm gonna go find your little skinny partner Carl and his mom."

"Really Pink?" Indigo asked, upset with the boy, but he only smiled starting to wind up.

She waited, she didn't think Pink would do it but sometimes his idiot jock friends got to him. He took a big swing but stopped and patted the boy.

Both freshman let out sighs of relief. Indigo couldn't tell why she cared so much about a boy she only knew for a day, but she didn't care.

"You okay?" She said running to the boy. He turned trying to hide his tears. Indigo turned him back, wiping them from his cheeks with a sad smile. "They got you bad."

He chuckled weakly. "Yeah, thanks for waiting." She fixed his hat. "Of course."

"Guys need a ride?" Pink called out. They turned back. "Yeah, I think they left me." Mitch sniffled. "You're my ride anyways Pinky." Indigo smiled.

Pink rolled his eyes at the girl and tossed Mitch his glove as they started towards his car. "I thought you were gonna do it." Indigo told the older boy.

"Really Blue? You think I'd do that?" He asked, kind of hurt. "Well sometimes when you're with your little football friends you don't think straight."

The younger two chuckled, knowing she was implying that they make him dumb. "Oh, get your dumb asses in the car."
