CH 9: What Is It?

*1 MONTH LATER*

Kana had been keeping a lot to himself. He would keep lost in his own world, imagining scenarios he did not know the possibility of happening to him. He dreamt of his child growing, them in some far away land, each other's only family. Playing around their small little cozy house. Cooking together. Him singing lullabies for his baby. Watching movies together. Going to amusement parks. And all happy little things he could think of. This overthinking had become his only way of remaining calm with all the stress he had been facing, the morning sickness, loneliness, fear, and so much more. He was keeping too quiet now. 

This sudden change in his bubbly nature was becoming a rising reason of concern of so many people. All his attention was usually on his baby and if he was free enough, he would think about Mew and Tae. Talking of the two, he had been avoiding them as much as he could. It had been a month since he saw their faces on even just a video call, for he was not interested in showing them his swollen, teary eyes. He would rarely answer there calls or texts, even. The two were worried sick and everytime they asked him to meet, Kana would say that he's busy with something or that they themselves must be busy. But today the two had decided that it had been long enough and they needed to see Kana for the sake of their sanity or they were surely ending up in an asylum.

Tae and Mew were right now sitting in Adonis' room, waiting for Kana to arrive. They were on the couch they remembered having a drink with their baby that had consequently led them to what and where they were today. It was a memory they were very fond of, for they had finally found the missing puzzle piece to their hearts. They sat there wondering if their kitten felt the same about them. Because no matter how close and comfortable Kana was with the two, he was too good at keeping his feelings locked within himself, not letting others know of them.

Mew sighed, leaning his head down to Tae's chest, "Am I overthinking or is Kana really distancing himself?" Tae nodded, playing with Mew's hair and then pecking his head. He completely agreed with the younger's thoughts, "The second one. He's been ignoring us for a month now." It had been days since Kana talked to them freely. everytime they talked on a call, Kana would sound so hurried as if he had something so important to do that sparing even just five minutes for them was hard. Tae wondered out loud, resting his head on the back of the couch, "I feel like he's hiding something serious." Mew could not get himself to agree more as his worries rose sky-high, "Me too... but what could it be? Could he be sick? Or something else bothering him?" His eyebrows knitted as he tugged his lower lip in between his teeth. Tae hugged Mew close to his heart, a silent promise to never let go conveyed itself through his embrace, "I don't know... We'll have to ask him. Let's confront him today." Mew nodded, "Hmm. We need to know what it is."

They went on talking over the same matter for another few mintues until they heard the door creek open, gaining all their attention. There, they saw their baby walk in, wearing a huge hoodie that reached to his knees and a pair of denim jeans. He looked too good to be real for them, making the two fall in love with him all over again. Kana closed the door behind him, finally noticed the two wolf pups staring at him in awe. "Oh! Y- Your already here! Sorry, I was helping Selene dress up for her date and lost track of time," Kana tried acting normal and suppresssed his tears, not letting them be seen by the others. Mew softly smiled, shaking his head at him and held out his hand for him, asking him to come to them, "It's fine, baby, come here." Kana nodded timidly and made his way to them, sittng in between. 

Mew rested his head on Kana' slouched shoulders and entwined their fingers together. Tae pulled Kana to rest against him and rested a hand on his thighs. The pregnant one could sense something off with them and his insecurities started getting a hold of him. He bit his lips as Tae suddenly held up his hand to himself and kissed the back of it, nuzzling into its warmth. The younger one was stunned for a reason unknown, "W- What is it?" Tae's heart hurt at that shock in Kana's tone. But he let it be, knowing that the other had something troubling him. He shrugged, smiling and the kissing his temple, "Nothing... Can't we just kiss our baby?" Kana wanted to run away but couldn't. His heart was beating loud and the two could hear it. Kana looked down, drowning in his own thoughts, again, "Y- You can..."
