Chapter 23

Me and Eno walked side to side a finger distance between our shoulders and we agreed to sit on a bench we encountered while walking.

"Have you been studying hard these days?"

Eno asked me her fingers interwinggled with mine.

"Yeah I am motivated unlike my middle school days after all I found the teacher that suits me the best."

"Oh, so you have a teacher you like? Tell me who it is."

"That person is probably the one who treated me better than anyone did. That person has become the most significant one in my life just in the span of 2 months.

That person is the nucleus of my thoughts now."

"..... Just who is that person?"

She said looking exceedingly curious.

I stare straight to her eyes with a soft expression on my face. She is now more focused on my eyes.

"You know? I like your eyes. Even if you are bad at academics, your eyes brim with intelligence I can't define. It is like you are alien or something like that."

'Alien' she said. Ironic enough the most accurate description of me was given by the person I deemed the last to comprehend me.

"You made me change the topic. Tell me, tell me just who is that teacher of yours."

"You actually know her."

"What?"

"She is currently very close to me and she has 0 distance with you."

She processed my riddle like response and her body came to halt.

"It's you. You are my dear teacher."

".......Do you see me that way?"

"You recently have became more than a teacher to me. A friend ....no even more."

I murmured the last part. 

"Honestly, I am happy you said that."

"I am glad."

When she was about to say something the school bell intrupted her.

"Time is up already?! Ahhhh..... Don't forget our meeting in the weekend. We will talk more."

She let go of my hand and walk away with an ecstatic face.

After today's classes ended I decided to check my partner in the special exam. I walk to the board showing our pairings and I see the partner designated for me.

"Hiyori Shiina..."

That person is my partner.

Next I see an interesting pairing. Ryuuen Kakeru-- Horikita Suzune.

I expect Ryuuen will be challenging for Horikita. 

Sakura--- Albert Yamada

Kushida--- Ishizaki Daichi

Hirata--- Manabe.....etc

I turn around losing interest and faced the person who was behind my back the whole time.

"Good afternoon Kozue-senpai."

She simply nod her head.

"You first years have an interesting exam. There wasn't a special exam like that."

"It looks very tiring to me."

"Are you perhaps an introverted Ayanokouji-kun?"

"Not necessarily."

Introvert..... Extrovert, I guess those personas are trends these days.

"Is that so? Now that I think about it you are a nasty acter."

"What made you think that?"

"Well..... except that kick you gave me that day you are somewhat polite with me unlike Horikita-senpai."

"That is just my attitude with you."

"Then can you say something about the social-looking guy who was with Sasaki-senpai at lunchtime?"

She saw me with Eno? That is indeed an indicator that I am an actor.

"I was just hitting on her."

The first thing I saw after I said that was the suprised face of Kozue-senpai. Her lips were slightly separated and she started laughing.

"....For real...." She was going to say something but she couldn't help to giggle even after she laughed.
I thought she was aloof in her demeanor but she can act like that huh....

After seeing my serious faced she stopped giggling.

"How do you know about Eno-senpai?"

"She is in Horikita-senpai's class so it is natural that I would be aware of her.''

"She is a good person."

I said.

"Maybe.

Anyways I need to attend the student council, do you want to come with me?"

"No. I advise you to not forget the relationship between us. We are enemies, you are my prey and I am your prey."

She looked at me with a sad tinted wry smile.

"That sounds somewhat wrong Ayanokouji-kun. Even if I said that before I want us to be allies."

"Allies toward what goal?"

"What about giving a taste of meritocracy to the school?"

Meritocracy she says..... That system is the backbone of capitalism but inspite of the fact that this school doesn't apply meritocracy, it allows for those kinds of changes to some degree.

I don't mind making Kozue-senpai my ally as long as she maintains a position as a useful tool.

"Oh? So that is your goal. Not bad. Well, I wouldn't mind such a system and being enemies with a senpai isn't that good right?"

"Huuu, yes you might be right but I think you are acting suspiciously modest.

Then let's go to the student council."

"Okay."
