Just a little note to say that R5 is in this book, but won't be famous or related.
~Ross~
"Can I just have my car keys back?" I groan, holding my hand out to my father. He was angry because over the summer I had barley been home, since I was either at parties or with my mates. My Dad wasn't a fan of this, since I had to be his next perfect son, just like my other idiot brother who is on his way to being to the top lawyer in the country. It really didn't interest me and what I was interested in, everybody would find weird for me to like. Since the incident, I've shut everybody out. My sisters, brothers, Dad, friends. Turned into something I never thought I would be, in one year.
"Not until you learn to behave." He folds his arms.
"I'm 17! What do you expect me to do? Study every night!?!" I glare at him, folding my arms over my chest.
"Yes! Your brother did-" I roll my eyes at the mention of him. "And look where he is now-"
"Graduating Harvard Law and becoming one of the best lawyers known to man. Do you want to end up like him?" I mock my Dad's low voice, earning a glare from him. "I'm not Harvey! He can go off and be a lawyer like you but not me."
"You will go to Harvard! All of our family went, we have to keep up the-"
"Tradition? How about what I want?" I yell, anger boiling up inside of me.
"And what do you want!?!" He shouts back.
"I don't know! But I know I don't want to be stuck behind a desk all my life and work all day!"
"Look I've already let you off the rails enough! I let you get as many tattoos as you wanted, you've been drinking every night! But this is senior year, Ross. You need to get good grades."
"But how am I going to get good grades if I can't even drive to school." I counter.
"Fine, you can have your keys." He mumbles, holding them out to me. "Just focus on your studies this year." Pulling them away slightly. I nod and he hands them over, reluctantly.
"I'll be back at 10!" I yell as I walk out the door.
"Ross-" My father bellows, but I'm already out the door and getting into my car. I've used that trick on him for a whole year and he falls for it every time. Starting the ignition, I drive in the direction of my school. The Arctic Monkeys starts blaring out the speakers as I drive to the other side of town where my school was. I was already late so I didn't rush.
When I finally arrive, I lock my car and head inside.
"Your late Mr Lynch." My English teacher states as I walk in.
"Am I never?" I counter, slumping in a chair at the back next to my mate, Jay. Behind us was my also Rocky and Riker and Ellington behind them. Woah how's he gonna deal with all five of us in one class?
"Punctuality. The first thing in a long line you need to learn." He grumbles.
"I also need to learn this right? So why don't you just get on with the lesson." Jay sniffles a laugh as I say this.
"Let's see how funny you two find that in detention."
"I think it will still be pretty funny." Riker shrugs. He ignores him and carries on with the lesson. I don't pay attention but can't help but look as a girl stumbles into the class room. It was obvious she was new since she had a million forums in her hands. Her long brown waves were tangled in her hazel eyes and there was a pink blush evident on her cheeks as everyone was watching her.
"Who on earth are you?" Mr Maddocks, out teacher, asks confused.
"I'm Maia Mitchell, I'm new." She stutters, moving the hair out her eyes. It was evident she was an Aussie, due to her accent.
"We'll just sit down anywhere, this lesson has been interrupted enough." He rolls his eyes. She sits down on a desk near the middle and puts her head on her hands. I looked away from her and back at the board, having no idea what I was supposed to be writing about. Of Mice and Men, great. I end up writing: A load of stuff went down and the fat guy dies.
At least I wrote something.

~Maia~
I looked around the busy cafeteria, immediately feeling out of place. I don't really fit into any of the cliche high school cliques. It was just one of those things when you were either a jock, art freak, 'nerd', musician, etc. High school works a certain way, you either fit in or you don't; simple. Never really falling into either category, no one knew me enough to know if I fitted in or was an outsider. I was invisible. Anybody could walk past me and forget the minute their eyes move on. In fact, everybody is guilty of doing this to a numerous amount of people, not even acknowledging their presence.
Deciding to give up on pretending I fit into a clique, I made my way through the tables and out the door. I had no idea where to go do I just wandered around aimlessly.
"You lost?" I look behind me and see a girl with blonde hair which slowly faded to pink, reaching her waist. Her brown eyes were striking and she noticeably had her lip pierced.
"Not really, since there's no where I want to go." I shake my head, shrugging slightly.
"Well, I could show you someplace to go?" She grins. "I'm Kat."
"I'm Maia." I smile back.
"Well, come on! I'll tell you about this school." We walk back to the canteen, and she explains to me how it works. "So obviously there's the drama enthusiasts, art freaks, jocks, cheerleaders and all that jazz." Using her hands, she motions towards the different tables. "I don't really hang with any of them. There's a couple of mixed groups but not many."
"Hey Kat! You still your douche bag boyfriend?" I hear a boy shout from the other end of the hall. I turn around to see a boy winking at me, pushing his blonde mess of hair out his face before he returns his attention to Kat. He had tattoos all up his arms , but they were covered with his jumper, and looked a lot like Kat.
"Bro, how many times are you going to ask me that today?"
"Until I get bored, baby sis." He messes up her hair, smirking.
"Your two minutes older than me." She moves his hand away.
"So..... Anyway Maia, right?" He turns to me, I nod slightly. "You have a cute blush." I look down, I'm not too good at the whole boys and flirting thing. Probably from how insecure I usually am, I suffer from anxiety and panic attacks. Well I didn't until my Dad passed.
"Stop flirting with her! Can I not have one friend you don't hit on?"
"Sorry Katrina! Maybe you shouldn't pick such sexy friends." He glares. I grimace and look down as the whole canteen turns to look at us, seeing what I would do next. Kat drags me by hand and pulls me towards the door.
"How do you put up with him?" We walk to the court yard, the wind whipping my hair around my face.
"I'm really not sure! We have five other siblings as well!" She giggles.
"Wow."
"Yep, we have two older and three younger. In order it's Harvey, Olivia, Ross and I, Luke, and another set of twins, Ivory and Jade."
"So there's 7 of you!" She nods, a huge smile on her face. "Okay, I have two siblings and I can't put up with them."
"Yeah. I don't blame Ross for how he acts, it's kind of a fight for attention. Plus not lot ago our Mom passed away." She says awkwardly.
"I get it. My Dad passed away a couple of months ago." I smile sympathetically.
"Is that why you moved here?"
"Yeah my Mom fell in love with an American who hates me and my siblings."
"How old are they?"
"I'm the oldest and I have a little brother called Charlie who's 7 and a sister, Lira, who's 3."
"That must be hard on them..... And you of course." We ended up sitting beside the fountain in the court yard and talking about ourselves, getting to know each other.
"What do you have next?" She asks as the bell rings.
"Drama." I tell her.
"So do I! We can go together." She grabs me by the hand and drags me towards the auditorium.
When I arrive, Kat groans as Ross walks towards us.
"Please tell me you just showing her where to go!" He moans.
"Nope. I thought we asked to be in all separate classes."
"We did, but obviously that request was denied." They both glare at each, as I try to contain my laugh. Sibling love every body.
