The question repeats in my head like a broken record. 'Why?' I didn't understand why my mother left at such a young age, but as I grew older, now I know why. My parents got divorced and as a result, my mother left and another woman married my father.
I didn't like her, she put to many high expectations for everyone, including me. Putting too much pressure and her only focus was perfection.
My half-brother who is currently 13 years old is head of my stepmothers family, he got everything he wanted, the golden child as me and my older siblings would call him. Our own father forgot about us, only spoke to us during family reunions and during dinner. He neglected us.
And as of today, today was supposed to be a special day, at least that's what my father said. Today marked the day where my stepmother will be crowned, the day where she is able to show that she is married into the Yamamoto family. As well the day where they got married. What a horrible memory for me, the day I had to accept that she would be crowned, that she was now married to my father.
But instead of attending to coronation, I ran with the family's artifacts which were given to me by my mother and now all I had to do is climb the tower and destroy or hide these artifacts. But I didn't know that my own siblings were chasing after me.
"Mitski!" I heard from my older brother, Haruka, one of my family members who I have a stronger bound with than the others. "Please stop running, you're running towards the entry of the tower!" my sister, Kim said.
I slowed down a bit then stopped, waiting for them. "Did grandpa tell you that you also had to go up the tower?" Haruka said, how come I didn't know about that, "Yes" I lied. I didn't want them to know the real reason why I left my family.
"Well we have to hurry before they find us" Kim said. We started running after hearing footsteps and people talking.
We ran like we were going to get killed and as any human being, we were starting to get tried but we had to keep going. Until we finally made it.
'Please don't be near us... I can't go back and wait another 10 years to leave again... This is my only chance... I need to go up the tower'
"Are you all sure about this?" I slightly jumped a bit at the sudden voice. I looked up to see a creature that looked like a rabbit. "I am Headon," it said.
"I have been waiting for you all" it then said, I didn't know how to feel about the way he looked like and that he knew who we are.
"Once you enter you can't come back out, so what will be your answer?" without hesitation, without even thinking. "We'll go!" I said, and my siblings nodded showing that they agree with my decision.
"Very well then," he waved his scepter, then a blue light wrapped around us, it was shinsu, I feel safe, it feels warm and gentle. The voice's were now muffled, now it's just pure silence. I looked at the creature that let us go in the tower, he looked at us with curiosity and interest while having a devious grin on his face. "Welcome to the Tower, Yamamoto."
I didn't look in shock but I was surprised that he knew our last names, then my vison turned into black, soon or later I felt unconscious.
