"Im a big girl now" -Nyah
"This college shit hard," Nyah said while feeding her now 7-month-old son mashed potatoes.
"Nah this life shit hard, this man ain't texted me back in three days," Nyah's new college friend Zeporia said
"Niggas gone be niggas" Nyah said wiping her now upset child's mouth
"He over there being fussy" Zeporia smiled at baby j
"Mommy I want potatoes too" Nyah's 4-year-old Daughter Nalani said stuffing her mouth with corn.
"Slow down mommy," Nyah said wiping her child's mouth and giving her a scoop of potatoes
"Speaking of Niggas you and your baby daddy been distant lately huh," Zeporia said smiling
"The way I like it," Nyah said rolling her eyes at the thought of him
"You know you still love that man," Zeporia said laughing hardly
"If that shit was love I wouldn't want to experience hate," Nyah said wiping her eyes before she dropped a tear in front of her babies.
Truth be told Nyah felt like she could never get over him every time she tried he just keeps coming back to distract and disrupt her.
Zeporia side-eyed her friend knowing that if this man called she would drop everything. Zeporia thought Nyah was weak for him and she hated seeing her friend hurt.
"Don't get hurt Nyah is what I'm saying" Zeporia said dipping her chicken tenders
"I got it Z," Nyah said trying to hold in her emotions
"Mommy me wanna go see daddy," Mercury said her eyes filling with tears.
Nyah hated getting emotional around her kids she always felt that they could sense her emotions which is why Mercury was getting emotional.
"I'll call him when we leave okay Bebe don't cry," Nyah said waving the waitress down
"Can I get three to-go boxed please?" Nyah asked the waitress
"Sure thing be right back," The friendly waitress said
"It's okay to cry Nyah you know that," Zeporia said looking at her distraught friend
"Not in front of my kids Z please just-" Nyah tried to finish
"Three to go boxes you ladies have a nice night," The waitress said sweetly
Nyah placed her kid's food in the two containers she had and gave the other one to Zeporia.
Everyone walked outside the restaurant to see Cari layer up against Nyah's car.
Nyah mentally cursed "please not today"
"Daddy!!" Mercury big brown eyes lit up at the sight of her father
"What's up baby girl" he spoke picking her up kissing her on the cheek and hugging her
Nyah stood back watching trying to contain her emotions for the sake of her children.
"Can't speak? " Cari said looking at Nyah and noticing her mood he already knew her emotion and he could pinpoint every one of her emotions like the back of his hand.
"Hi," she said uninterestedly
"Mhm," Cari said looking at her buckling his daughter and son up in her car seat and closing the door.
He took a look at Nyah and watched how her skin glowed in the sun and how the dress she wore hugged every inch of her newfound curves that were gifted to her from having kids.
"You can't call me anymore I have to pull up on you now," he said walking closer to her
She just stood there all of her emotions running high but sadness hit her the worst and if he said one more thing to her she would burst into tears.
"Cari please not today I can't-" she tried to say without her voice cracking
He heard her voice crack and saw her glossy eyes and hugged her "you don't have to explain" he said applying a kiss to her head "I gotcha."
Relationship problems and mental abuse were not the only things Nyah was hurting from she was also hurting from mental and emotional abuse from her parents and childhood trauma. Dealing with all this while trying to raise 2 kids. She was tired, to say the least, and college assignments weren't making it any better. She needed a hug not even caring who gave her one.
Zeporia stood in the back watching her friend break down in the person who hurt her arms and felt a ping of sadness "she will never learn" Zeporia thought to herself while walking to her truck
